Wisconsin high court race yields mixed results

Madison, Wis. (AP) -- When a little-known liberal challenged a conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court justice, the once-sleepy race suddenly looked like a backdoor way for Gov. Scott Walker's opponents to sink his agenda.

Then a clerk discovered 14,000 unrecorded votes that vaulted the incumbent into the lead. Experts said the results represented a draw for the governor: He didn't lose, but the slim margin means he didn't win big, either. And the close contest could help ensure Walker's opponents stay energized for the next round.

The outcome also improves the odds that Walker's collective bargaining law would survive a legal challenge before the high court. Yet Prosser's lead, if it holds, does not amount to a clear public endorsement of the governor's policy.

The conservative "didn't win by the margin everyone expected him to win by," said University of Wisconsin-Green Bay political science professor Michael Kraft. "If I were Walker, I wouldn't be saying everything is just dandy and people love me."

The Dems/Unions in DC want a recount in Wisconsin as a method to get an organization in place for the 2012 Obama election. They want the numbers to come in so that there will be a recount here in Wisconsin on the taxpayer dollar. Just as the fleabaggers were given talking points by the big shots in DC, this same crowd in DC including Trumpka are calling the shots in Wisconsin. Remember for Progressives, only the central government is intelligent enough to make decisions. The Dems in Wisconsin are just being patsies for some big fatcat in DC.

Complete bunk. The Leftists' loss has thoroughly demoralized them. And, what's more, it should make them seriously rethink their recall efforts. I've read an analysis where they could likely realize a net loss of 2 Senators if all the recall efforts go to a vote. Now that would be the end of their delusions for quite a while.

Everyone here needs to sign up at the sfgate website and dump a load of truth on their comments section, just for fun. It gets the fire ants stirred up something fierce every time I do it.

She is just another case of a girl who grew up spending every Friday night at home... alone, wanting revenge by STICKING IT to the rest of us because it is, somehow, our fault.

I rest my case.

* I'm betting her girlfriend dumped her.

It doesn't matter what the Prosser victory says about the governors popularity.

What matters is that now the Dems have a much harder time using the courts to stop the Republican agenda. As such, this is a strategic victory.

On the other hand, there are at least 2 Dem Senators that are in very iffy districts. It’d be nice to ick off a couple of those while holding our own.

The Repubs need to pass Voter ID before any recall elections. The Dems know that if the Repubs get one more Senator, it's game-over -- the Repubs can pass anything they like and Dem temper tantrums won't be able to stop them. As such, they will openly cheat and commit vote fraud if that's what it takes.

The Repubs should also pass CCW and Stand Your Ground to work against unions thinking about violence.

Good ideas. I know that most of us submitted lists to our Reps designating what to tackle first back in Jan. 2011. I suppose they need to be reminded after all this hullabaloo. (all those things were on my list.)

Let the AP say what they will - it was a win for our side and I don’t think they can overcome the margin and stay believable. Time for Walker and other states to clean up the way elections are run and do it NOW! Obama and his Union goons are going to pull out all the stops in 2012. Once Obama is in his second term we can expect card check, the Fairness Doctrine and who knows what else. Once he has no fear of going down in the history books as a one-term loser President, he will be out in full force to ram his agenda down the throats of this nation by any means possible. He has already demonstrated complete contempt for the way government is run and will use every dirty trick in the book while our complacent press continues to cheer him on.

Sure AP let’s just ignore the fact that the national unions pushed very hard...3 million dollars plus thousands of “volunteer” man hours...the national DNC was involved...even that dip shi& Micheal Moore and Jesse Jackson were involved and they could not get a win. They were predicting a slaughter against the Republicans...oh well AP, you just keep lying for your liberal philosophy...we like you better that way. You are easy to hate.

I was trying to remember which TV character Klip Klop reminded me of.

Check out Rusty the horse in the Seinfeld episode.

I noticed how Kloppenburger tilts her head to show that she’s attending to a question. It makes her look almost human. My dog used to tilt her head as if she were trying to understand something I’d said to her. Of course, my dog was much cuter and probably brighter than Kloppenburger. I don’t think my dog would have hastily claimed victory on the basis of such scanty evidence.

The conservative "didn't win by the margin everyone expected him to win by"

Really? With all the money and resources the lefties had working for them there was an expected margin of victory for Prosser? Were there polls predicting a comfortable win for him? Or is the professor spinning? The Left was definitely revved up for this one. I wasn't sure if the passion was there on our side and worried about the turnout.

My faith has been restored.

I have liberal relatives in WI who were certain that Prosser was going to get shellacked, that most of the Republican Senators will be recalled, and that Walker is in for a rude awakening next year when he gets recalled.

I can only assume they weren't paying attention in November. And hope that the good folks who put Gov. Walker, Rep. Ryan, and Sen. Johnson in office keep up the good work.

1/2 of 1% might not qualify as a clear winner, but I'll take the win nonetheless.

Around 7,000 votes is a clear winner if the Dims have no valid challenges to any of the results.

I don’t disagree with that at all, yet I stand by my original statement.
