TRUMP TO OBAMA: YOU'RE FIRED
boblonsberry.com ^ | 04/08/11 | Bob Lonsberry

Trump to Obama: You’re fired.

As kooky as it sounds, as improbable as the whole thing seems, I’m fired up about Donald Trump.

Maybe it’s a commentary on him, maybe it’s a commentary on contemporary politics, but it actually makes sense to me.

We know him, we respect him, we like him.

And that’s two or three better than the others.

Yes, his supposed candidacy is probably nothing more than a publicity stunt, an effort to increase his profile and line his pocket. But then, the same is probably true of Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee and the perpetual never-ran, Rudy Giuliani.

But if he’s serious, so am I.

Mostly, I’m a Romney man. But in a back-alley brawl, I want Trump.

And anybody who thinks international relations are anything other than a back-alley brawl is nuts.

We need somebody to stand up to the Chinese and we need somebody to balance the books. We need somebody who knows how to make decisions and go toe-to-toe with anybody who stands in his way.

And we need somebody who speaks his mind, who doesn’t pussyfoot around trying not to step on toes.

We need somebody who says what he means and feels, and who doesn’t craft every sentence as a sound byte meant to propagandize us.

Other than the hair, Donald Trump looks like America. Not in terms of his outward appearance, but his internal strengths and weaknesses. He is a guy who wears his warts and his confidence on his sleeve. He talks loud, lives big and fills rooms.

And it’s about time we had a president who walked tall.

For more than 20 years, Donald Trump has been a public figure. He has had his ups and downs, his marriages and his bankruptcies. But he has always come out on top, he has always been fascinating, and he has always had the all-American daring do that made this country great.

Certainly, on paper, he’s nothing like a presidential candidate, which may be all the more reason why he’s the perfect candidate.

He hasn’t been polished, he hasn’t been managed, he hasn’t been packaged.

He’s just The Donald.

He says he’s tea party, he says he’s free enterprise, he says he’s America first.

He says we have to balance the budget, we have to stop deficit spending, we have to balance our trade, we have to put ourselves first.

All those things are right.

And for the first time, someone has discussed the birth certificate who hasn’t come off like a psycho.

Personally, I’m more than 90 percent sure that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, just like he says. Personally, I’ve been put off by the conspiratorial birthers and their crazy theories.

But, personally, when I hear Donald Trump talk about this issue, it doesn’t sound crazy. His questions sound reasonable. He says he doesn’t know where Barack Obama was born.

And maybe we don’t know either.

It is interesting that there is no paper trail. I was born in a tiny backwoods hospital that was torn down shortly after I was born. Yet there is documentation all over the place that I was born there, that my mother was a patient there, that her mother paid the bill there, that I was taken to doctor’s visits there.

And I don’t get why it’s not the same way with Barack Obama.

But wherever Barack Obama was born, it is refreshing that Donald Trump would talk about it. No one else will touch it with a10-foot pole. Why? Because they are afraid of looking dumb, because they guard their every word in a effort to package themselves well.

Trump doesn’t care about that stuff.

He is who he is and if you don’t like it you can kiss his backside.

And that’s the sort of guy we yearn for as president.

The ability to lead is an interesting thing. Many people want it, and study it, and presume it, but rarely have it. Donald Trump seems to have that ability. In a roomful of people, he would be the one to whom the others would look.

Whether it’s life experience, or demeanor, or just plain grit, he’s got it.

And the others really don’t.

And if he’s serious, so am I.

Trump to Obama: You’re deported.

I love Glenn Beck, but he’s totally wrong when he lumps Teddy Roosevelt in with the Marxists of the Democrat Party, or modern day “progressives”.

I was referring more to Teddy Roosevelt’s attitude, personality and charisma, than to his policies, MOST of which I whole heartedly support.

Its funny that Beck and other Phony-Cons label Roosevelt as a Progressive....Roosevelt actually was more of an “anti-Business Socialist”.....who did not believe that big business should run or benefit from government.

Which is contrary to the current Free Trade Commie nonsense supported by Beck and his (Former) employers at Fox News....who supports Free Trade Communism along with George Soros, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Obama, The Clintons....in fact Free Trade has supporters in both parties

Beck is no history major....and more of the Free Trade Commie “progressive” crap spewers out there

So cool that Trump, a billionaire, is raising the Free Trade Commie failure issue. Imagine a candidate not actively supporting Communist China like the other Free Trade Commies

WHAT? Voters read and study their candidate? Not there is a unique idea. LOL

Donald is bright articulate knows how to negotiate and it mentally tough. Oh, and he has great taste for female flesh. We could do worse. And the first lady would be incredibly HOT! LOL

Yeah, 25% tariff on Chinese goods. Now there’s an intelligent solution for you. Seize all the Iraq oil, Libya’s too. Iran won’t have nukes because The Donald says they won’t. Given all that I don’t know if the question is whether Trump’s positions are above MSM paygrade or below the threshold of credulity.

And, your Free Trade Commie agenda is working?

Better to place a huge tariff on Communist Chinese goods and try to seize foreign oil. The latter we actually have done in the past....you may have been asleep in your history classes

Now I wonder if the whining about Trump is that he may actually do something against the Free Trade Communist Globalist agenda? I can see the morons who continue to push the Soros Globalist Agenda are quite afraid of Trump

No I was awake. It was called Smoot-Hawley and it was soooo successful during the depression, wasn't it?

Add a 25% tariff on Chinese goods and your raise the price of their goods to U.S. consumers 25%. A protective tariff is only good if there is a domestic industry to protect, and we destroyed our domestic consumer electronics, steel, and textile industries decades ago. China would no doubt retaliate by turning elsewhere for the goods they import from us. Trump's tariff would be a disaster.

Seizing foreign oil means seizing the land it sits on. And during those history classes that I stayed awake in I learned that colonialism is not something a rational state wants to pursue these days. But we're not talking rational, we're talking Trump.

Now I wonder if the whining about Trump is that he may actually do something against the Free Trade Communist Globalist agenda?

No, it's a realization that for all his big mouth and bluster, there is nothing Trump can do to make the changes he's claiming with the tactics he's promoting.

“Trump is going to have to start talking issues if he wants to be a serious candidate. He can’t just talk about the birth certificate.”

??? Have you not listened to many of his interviews? He’s spoken about “issues” ALOT. If all you are hearing are the lib talking points spewed as snippets, then I can believe you have no idea that he’s been doing exactly what you are demanding he do.

Ahem, Why would you say that? Trump has never gone bankrupt. Never. I was wrong about the Trade deals we did 30 years ago, what did we think our young men would make? Marco Rubio is my favorite speaker but Trump is now my favorite advocate for America. He reminds me of Reagan, just crazy enough to scare our enemies into retreat and smart enough to know who our enemies are.

At least Donald has a backbone, a big pair of brass ones...
Being a billionaire can do that for you!
I think you mean, "having those can make you a billionaire" - because it's CERTAINLY not the other way around.

Yea, his books are well worth taking the time to read. It only takes a few minutes to realize that he has excellent common sense judgement.

"He didn’t support child labor or related issues"

Big Bump, TR was a great (progressive) conservative president, Beck is completely wrong on TR. At the time the country needed a progressive (conservative) president!

How can a person be for both these guys? They are polar opposites, Trump has a “set of brass ones” while Romney has none.

He can’t just talk about the birth certificate.

If Charlie Sheen were to start asking about Obama's birth certificate, a good third of Freepers would probably support Sheen for President, or at least the next Supreme Court seat.

You hit the nail squarely on the head. This is the best thing about the whole Trump thing so far, he’s knocking the media on their collective “@sses” and it’s a beautiful thing to behold!

Stilton Jarlsberg at his brilliant hopenchangecartoons.blogspot.com says it better than I could hope to:

Conservatives who still haven't removed the clothespins from their noses after being forced to vote for John McCain are now falling into states of catatonic depression over the prospect of Donald Trump running for the Republican presidential nomination.

Trump, an occasional billionaire and fulltime reality TV star, believes himself to be qualified for the job of president owing to the fact that he has an actual birth certificate and a distinctive hairstyle which, while looking absolutely ridiculous, is at least more convincing than Barack Obama's alleged christianity.

All of which makes Hope n' Change feel nostalgic for the old days in which candidates had things like political experience, knowledge, integrity, a history of public service, and the seriousness of purpose to realize that becoming President of the United States carries much more responsibility than winning "American Idol."

The Presidency must be more than a popularity contest, and must be somehow separated from America's increasingly sophomoric obsession with celebrity (not to mention the public's inability to differentiate between celebrity, infamy, and notoriety - Charlie Sheen for VP, anyone?).

The mere possibility of another presidential election with no worthy contender on either side is enough to make our hair stand on end.

And no comb-over can hide it.
