Consider this a trap well set and sprung. Frustrated that the Senate won’t pass any budget bill while the House continues to negotiate to the brink of a government shutdown, John Boehner proposed a one-week CR to keep government open for a week and to secure defense funding through the end of the year. A few minutes ago, the White House stated categorically that it would veto the one-week CR if it passes the Senate in an e-mail blast, underscoring in original:
The Administration strongly opposes House passage of H.R. 1363, making appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2011, and for other purposes. As the President stated on April 5, 2011, if negotiations are making significant progress, the Administration would support a short-term, clean Continuing Resolution to allow for enactment of a final bill.

Ugh. Do they get to apply for unemployment during this time? I mean seriously this guy has done a lot of “low” type thing but this is disgusting. He has no idea how many junior military personnel who are going to be in deep trouble financially because of this. He is getting back at the military folks for not voting for him. That is so childish.

The media is already spinning this as “the Republicans are shutting the government down and denying our troops their pay because they’re sending Obama a bill with Planned Parenthood defunded.” Seriously. Watch and see tomorrow.

He is pushing the citizenry towards open rebellion. That document you linked to is arrogant, dismissive and partisan. I cannot belive what I read there.
“Finding common ground” to liberals means agreeing with them, plain and simple. Period. Anything else is, to them, partisan politics. Alternatives couldn’t possibly be offered for reasons such as being in dire straits that require drastic measures.
My guess is it dies in the Senate, so our side is going to need to do a hell of a communication job to make it clear that Reid and Obama are jointly screwing over the troops.
