It must be nice belonging to a political party that not only has amnesia about the things they say and do, but also knows the media will not remind the public. It has only been two years since Obama invited the Republicans into the White House for an eye to eye meeting about the way they will all work together. Unfortunately for the GOP, Obama had no intention of working with them, instead he told them to their face, "I WON", "and you have no say in how things will be done". Pretty ballsy statement for a man who ran on a platform of change and cooperation. Then for the next two years Obama was true to his words as he and the Democrats left Republicans out of every decision they made for America.
Below is the original article from the Washington Post that reported Obama's famous snub to the Republicans during what was supposed to be a bipartisanship meeting on the budget Obama sent to Congress in January 2009. This should really be a defining moment for those who thought he was an honorable man, because like Bill Clinton before him, there is nothing honorable about Obama.
WSJ Wire By Mary Lu Carnevale
Jonathan Weisman reports on the White House.
The top congressional leaders from both parties gathered at the White House for a working discussion over the shape and size of President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan. The meeting was designed to promote bipartisanship.
But Obama showed that in an ideological debate, he's not averse to using a jab.
Challenged by one Republican senator over the contents of the package, the new president, according to participants, replied: "I won."
The statement was prompted by Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl of Arizona , who challenged the president and the Democratic leaders over the balance between the package's spending and tax cuts, bringing up the traditional Republican notion that a tax credit for people who do not earn enough to pay income taxes is not a tax cut but a government check.
Obama noted that such workers pay Social Security and Medicare taxes, property taxes and sales taxes. The issue was widely debated during the presidential campaign, when Sen. John McCain, the Republican nominee, challenged Obama's tax plan as "welfare."
With those two words -- "I won" -- the Democratic president let the Republicans know that debate has been put to rest Nov. 4.
Democratic and Republican aides confirmed the exchange. A White House spokesman said he wasn't immediately aware of the exchange. The aides who heard the remarks stressed that it wasn't as boldly partisan as it might sound.
Still, other Democrats echoed the sentiment. As he left the White House, House Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina was asked about Republican complaints that Democrats aren't listening to what their GOP colleagues have to say. "We're responding to the American people," he said". "The American people didn't listen to them too well during the election."
For two years we have all watched as Obama and his Socialist friends in the Democrat party passed legislation after legislation without even allowing Republicans to read the bills. In the case of Obamacare, the Democrats admit that they didn't even know what was in the bill when they voted for it. Then, reminiscent of the way he treated the Republicans, Obama told the 70% of the Americans who told him not to sign the legislation, "I Won" and signed it into law anyway. With control of America's checkbook and credit cards, Obama and the Democrats went on a spending spree that has increased our debt from $10.6 trillion when he took office, to $14 trillion by January 1, 2011.
With help from the media, the Democrats have tried to convince Americans that 10s of trillion of dollars is a manageable debt. Well they failed and the reason they failed is because the vast majority of Americans have always been against the governments massive debt, regardless of which party is doing it. That's why the Republicans were tossed out, they forgot their mission which was to reduce the size of the government. The Democrats misunderstood what their win meant, and last November the voters overwhelming reminded them by putting Republicans back in control of the purse strings. With the Republicans now listening to the people, they sent a bill to the Senate that had a measly $61 billion in spending cuts. A few weeks later the Senate rejected it 55-44. When you consider how the Democrats and Obama just spent $3.4 trillion in 710 days, $61 billion is equivalent to a lollypop at the checkout stand.
After the having line drawn in the sand by the enemies of Americas future, the House Republicans decided to dispense with the games and are now pushing their new budget for the fiscal year of 2012 that calls for $5.8 trillion in cuts over the next 10 years. Just one problem, Obama's budget for 2012 calls for increasing the debt to $20.8 trillion by 2021, so with the Republicans willing to make the difficult decisions you would think Obama would be man enough to get with them to discuss their differences and come to a deal that all could agree to. After all, we are told by the MSM that he is gracious and respectful of others opinions. Shouldn't he be telling the Republicans, "Ok, you guys won, what do you want?" Instead he tells the GOP "Getting Your Way Is Not How It Works". In more worldly terms Obama said, "Screw You!" What was it again that that the Majority Whip, Dem James Clyburn, said in 2009?
"We're responding to the American people."Wait, isn't that what the Republicans are doing? Remember the election? I guess Obama and the Democrats have changed their opinion of what winning means, because 2 years ago he said, "I won, you lost", and then he and the Democrats treated the Republicans like they didn't exist, and the MSM never complained.
Like most Socialists, Obama does not practice what he preaches, and now instead of doing the work he was elected to do, he has embarked upon a campaign of attacking Republicans for not doing it his way. Hey Obama? YOU LOST! It's really pathetic the way he talks about the Republicans needing to act as adults when he's the one throwing a temper tantrum by leaving Washington and obfuscating the issues all because he refuses to accept the will of the people. Now he is willing to let the government shut down, and he thinks he will get away with it because he knows that the MSM will do the heavy work of convincing the public that it's the Republicans who are shutting down the Government.
So what exactly is he telling everyone about the Republicans budget? He and his cohorts on the left are resorting to the same old tired routine that Democrats drag out whenever they don't get their way. Along with claiming that Republicans are going to stifle the recovery that he and the MSM have been claiming exists, he is accusing them of starving children, killing old people, poisoning the water, kicking the homeless out of homeless shelters, and ruining summer vacations by shutting down National Parks. As for what he told supporters at a business that he is subsidizing with TARP money in Pennsylvania,
"if you want to vacation at Yellowstone National Park, you're out of luck. You may even have to figure out if you can get your money back,"
Excuse me Mr. President, but most Americans I know have already canceled their vacation to Jellystone Park because of the high price of gasoline. Besides, the rate of inflation for groceries has made it incumbent upon many Americans to start growing their own vegetables. So even if they wanted to go to Jellystone Park and see Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, they wouldn't because they need to tend to their gardens for food to eat.
Ever wonder what planet this guy is living on? I do because he just doesn't get it. Just today Congressman Paul Ryan pointed out how the debt will eventually hit 800 percent of GDP, and that a new CBO report says they "cannot conceive of any way" that the economy can continue past 2037 given its current trajectory. Obama and the Democrats have had a big party for the last two years and we cannot pay for it. So politicians acting like adults with level heads have prevailed by winning back the House and they are not going to back down as the Republicans did in 1995 when Bill Clinton used the same scare tactics against them.
As Newt Gingrich said in 1995, it's time for government officials to start acting like adults by doing the adult thing. In this case it means that it is time to cut back on future spending just like every household in America has been doing. In the next few weeks we will see if Obama and his fellow Democrats want to act like adults, or if they will continue throwing temper tantrums because Mom and Dad cannot afford to the lollypop at the checkout stand.

Our pencil-necked, illegal alien resident of our White House is sounding like a baby-goo-goo snot.
Hey Barack!
Elections have consequences!
oh....and Yellowstone cabins don’t open until May 1st, so find another red herring!
I think owebama uses the Charlie Sheen version of "Winning!"
The forces of socialism only march in one direction.
Now Boehner needs to PUBLICLY remind el zee-rho that hey...WE won.
This so-called potus is an insufferable jerk, a $#^$(*$#^#^, and a fraud.
Obama then: “Screw you.”
Obama now: “Screw you!”
Consistency isn’t exactly a hallmark of the left.
I saw Harry Reid saying that we’ve argued about abortion for 40 years and it isn’t going to be settled in the next 38 hours. I wanted someone to ask him why it was so different from “settling” health care in the middle of the night.
I am still keeping things going for OneVike, who wanted me to send everyone their thanks for prayers and support while he is going through a season of trials. Today I am posting an article by a guest writer named Toby Jones. Toby has written a nice piece about Obama and his two faced way in how he treated the Republicans after he won and how he is acting now that the Republicans have won. Per his instructions the whole article has been posted at FR. It would be nice if you gave him a complimentary hit on his site though at GATE. ..............

Obama sounds like an arrogant Nazi.
Its not realistic to shut down the government on a debate dealing with abortion, Reid said. Its not fair to the American people. We havent solved the issue in 40 years. Were not going to solve it in the next 38 hours. We should not be distracted by ideology. This is a bill that funds the government.

Obama’s comment that it can’t be ‘my way or the highway’ is a big laugh! Didn’t hear him say this when the health care law was jammed down everyone’s throat...or when Nancy Pelosi said...’you have to pass the Bill to know what’s in it’... hypocrites is one of the nicer words I have for them.
well since you asked so nicely I’ll ping his blog.
That's the way it is when you get your way your whole life.
You never grow up.
Thanks, this stuff is precious in debating the left.
Thanks again for the link.
