You have to keep in mind this...
That area sank to the tune of 2-3 feet in elevation from the mega quake last month.
a 2-3 foot tsunami will carry much more weight then they have in the past.

When this first occurred they were warning of tsunami waves ranging from 1 meter to 30 cm. Small yes, but I'm sure they are a bit wiggy right now after being hit with that last monstrosity!

I get confused as to could this be almost considered an aftershock from the original quake, what is the criteria for designated it as an aftershock or a separate earthquake?

usgs has combined into a single event, mag 7.1 with a depth of 30 miles.
Quakes of that size and depth are unlikely to generate a tsunami of any significance.
NOAA has no alerts posted.
If a tsunami has been generated, should be seeing evidence of it by now.
