Ohio bill would allow recall against Kasich, legislators 5:12pm EDT
By Jo Ingles
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Reuters) - Ohio Democratic legislators are proposing a bill that would allow voters to recall Governor John Kasich, who has signed a controversial bill limiting collective bargaining for public workers.
State Representative John Hagen said voters in 17 states, including Wisconsin, where a similar bill was passed, can recall their governors or state legislators.
Hagen's bill would allow Ohio voters to undertake a recall effort if they gather petition signatures of voters equal to 15 percent of the total votes for governor or in a particular legislative district in the last election.
Republicans have majorities in both houses of the Ohio state legislature.
Kasich has been under fire not just for the collective bargaining bill, but for cutting aid to schools, universities and local governments in his proposed two-year budget.

It’s the perpetual campaign - wear down the mushy middle so they vote your way “just to make it stop”
This is a well thought out bill/s. Just think if this passes and the Dems are in control in the future.it would and could come back and bite then in the arse.
This isn’t going anywhere. Just a bunch of whiny libs mad at the governor. The guy who initiated the bill, is of course, a disgruntled, whiny. lib from Cleveland and admitted this was directed toward Governor Kasich.
The RATS kept saying to give zero a chance, but, they aren’t giving our governor a chance. Just more of their double standards. Bunch of hypocrites.
Ditto that in the Peoples Republic of Illinois. It went down big time. There’s a way to correct mistakes and it’s called impeachment. Besides, the recall process is very expensive.
This is making me crazy!
I guess we don’t even need elections any more - if the loudest, crudest, crookedest groups don’t like the outcome they will just undo the election.
I’m getting too old for this kind of stress. Somewhere it has to STop.
So where exact do those b———s want to make the cuts? I haven’t heard ANY suggestions from any of the rioters in any of the states that have Republican governors who are trying to fix the messes left to them by crooked dem governors.
Where, mr. screeching union member, should the cuts be made? We all would like to know the plans you have to offer, that will get us out of the gigantic mess we are in.
I guess you could raise taxes, but most of the folks in Ohio who actually want to work, can’t find work because IT is still being outsourced.
My brain can’t take much more of this.
Yet Cuomo cuts $10B, which is a good thing. But because he’s a Democrat...silence.
Recall Kasich? Bring it on! And bring your wallet too, this is gonna cost you!
(Because of Japan’s disaster, Honda is slowing down production. That means less government revenue.)
It’s the Stupid Obama Economy!
There should be no recall. We have elections and we have impeachment - that covers it.
Just like early voting, this is another way for Rats to cheat to get what they cannot legitimately win at the ballot box.
So this would mean the bill has a good chance of passing and the governor signing it? Doh!!!!!
We knew for what and for whom we were voting last November; we'll keep 'em, thank you.
They ought to instead pass a bill that forces any flee-bagger from office if they abscond and fail to show for work at the lege for more than 1 week.
And btw, I cant WAIT for the Obama RECALL election of Nov 2012.
Wouldn’t Kasich himself still have to sign this into law?
He already has. Unfortunately, this might work. People were voting against Strickland more than they were voting for Kasich. There are too many idiots in this state who think the deficit can be made up by taxing the wealthy. They’re too dumb to realize that Ohio is already one of the most taxed states in the country. I love my state and the people are good, but they are ignorant and fickle.
Why in God’s name would he sign this?
I meant that he signed SB5
I meant that he signed SB5
