WASHINGTON (AP) -- Warning of economic repercussions, the Obama administration said Wednesday that a government shutdown would halt the processing of tax returns and limit small business loans and government-guaranteed mortgages during peak home buying season.
Obama's administration sought to put the prospect in terms people would care about, even saying the beloved Cherry Blossom parade in the nation's capital would be wiped out.

I’m watching the POTUS on Fox. Without the TelePrompter he’s torturous.
Slow response but it worked for me.

What if the Gummint stayed shut for the next fourteen months, or MORE??
Couldn’t hurt.
Will hurt the Democrats ability to buy votes.
You know, when it snows two inches in this town(DC), the schools close and so do governments, including Uncle Sam.
What happens to the economy? Nothing.
Much ado about nothing.
what economy?
that is like a drunk complaining that running out of booze will ruin his social life
If the Democrats are concerned about the economy, why didn’t they pass a budget last year?
The Democrats only care about the economic prosperity of their Democratic constituents.

(CNSNews.com) House Budget Chairman Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said President Barack Obamas budget strategy is to do nothing, punt, duck, kick the can down the road while the debt remains on track to eventually hit 800 percent of GDP and the CBO is saying it "can't conceive of any way" that the economy can continue past 2037 given its current trajectory.
Ryan also said that the House Republicans FY2012 budget, which he unveiled yesterday, would save Medicare and help the United States avoid a debt crisis.

Hey, no problemo then big guy, don’t shut it down.
except during a blizzard people still get their paychecks to pay their mortgages, utility bills and groceries
I cannot even imagine the ripple effect on public services, private businesses and people’s lives if what you suggest would happen
We’d be OK if we had to walk away from this life and our house and go live on a boat or in a trailer near relatives-but some, many, folks not so prepared
Maybe that’s what those FEMA camps are for after all
Hope to see an abbreviated version of his performance.
Obama administration: “Shutdown would hurt economy”
“O” really IS a f&^%$#g MORON!!!
Nothing will happen.
Nothing.
Well, if you own a house and the tenant is a federal worker who can’t pay the rent, something will happen.
If you own or work at a small business and folks stop buying, something will happen.
If you work at or own stock in a bank and more middle class people fall behind on their mortgages, something will happen.
If you have credit cards and all of a sudden other cardholders can’t make their payments, something will happen.
If your kids go to private school and sudddenly their classmates’ parents can’t make tuition, something will happen.
If you pay taxes for local service and suddenly a lot more people line up for them, something will happen.
That’s just 2 pay cycles. I believe you wished for a million workers to lose jobs or go unpaid for over a year, because you don’t respect what they do and don’t think their lives and fortunes affect yours.
