No degree, little experience pay off big. Scott Walker gives gov't. job to lobbyist's kid.

Just in his mid-20s, Brian Deschane has no college degree, very little management experience and two drunken-driving convictions.

Yet he has landed an $81,500-per-year job in Gov. Scott Walker's administration overseeing environmental and regulatory matters and dozens of employees at the Department of Commerce. Even though Walker says the state is broke and public employees are overpaid, Deschane already has earned a promotion and a 26% pay raise in just two months with the state.

How did Deschane score his plum assignment with the Walker team?

It's all in the family.

His father is Jerry Deschane, executive vice president and longtime lobbyist for the Madison-based Wisconsin Builders Association, which bet big on Walker during last year's governor's race.

The group's political action committee gave $29,000 to Walker and his running mate, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, last year, making it one of the top five PAC donors to the governor's successful campaign. Even more impressive, members of the trade group funneled more than $92,000 through its conduit to Walker's campaign over the past two years.

Total donations: $121,652.

That's big-time backing from the homebuilders.

The younger Deschane didn't respond to questions about his job.

But his father said he doesn't think his group's financial support of the first-term Republican helped his son in his job search.

"He got the position himself," said Jerry Deschane, who returned to the trade group in September after a hiatus during which he worked as an independent lobbyist for many groups, including the builders association. "I didn't get it for him."

One Walker critic isn't buying it.

State Rep. Brett Hulsey called Deschane's appointment another case of the new administration using state jobs to repay various industries.

Hulsey said he was unimpressed with the younger Deschane's résumé, including his lack of environmental or management experience.

Maybe it’s all on the up and up. Maybe he and the governor met in a drunk driving program or something. ;-)

Sounds like the relationship between Obama and Jeffrey Immelt.

There’s always more to the story when it comes to liberals smearing conservatives.

“Brian was moved to (the Department of) Commerce at the request of (Regulation and Licensing) Deputy Secretary John Scocos to head up a division that was eventually going to be moved to DRL,” the statement said. “Deputy Secretary Scocos worked with Brian at DRL earlier this year and thought he could help with the transition of the Commerce division to DRL.

“When Governor Walker learned of the details of this agency staffing decision, he directed his administration to move in another direction.”

Walker chief of staff Keith Gilkes recommended Brian Deschane for a job with the Regulation and Licensing Department. In January, he became bureau director of board services, a position that paid $62,728 a year.

His pay will return to the lower amount when he resumes duties Wednesday at the Department of Regulation and Licensing, Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie said.”

Ain’t that the real truth. Public or Private, ancient or modern times, patronage is the law of humanity.

I have seen no evidence that Obama has graduated from college and he certainly had no experience for the job he holds. I think he is paid over $400,000 and has perks out the wazoo. So what's the big deal with the kid in Wisconsin?

This does not look good.....especially after you go challenge the high paid govt employees union

Be even worse if this kid was in the union....

We need leadership that is willing to cut budgets and cut government.

Or, it could be something entirely different.

I would NEVER question the veracity or motives of a liberal “news” publication to issue a story that would make a popular and effective conservative political figure look like something that crawled out of Chicago or the Kennedy compound.

No siree! Not me!

So the complaint is that the kid’s overqualified??

I think a number of posters missed your posting above; things are not always as they seem through the eyes of a liberal (news organization) ...

Would you read the whole article please? This guy probably impressed some of the now in power Republican office holders and this job is a political appointee position - the losers need to get over it.

‘rats amd MSM don’t like it when the Pubbies steal their thunder. And, as Paul Harvey used to say/tell, more or less, what is the rest of the story?

yet another outbreak of this “birther” nonsense?

You DO realize it’s a matter of easily verifiable record that Obama graduated from Harvard law School and was editor of the Law Review and that the ABA requires all entrants to any a credited law school to prove they have a 4-year undergraduate degree?

For the love of holy hell could we PLEASE concentrate on the multitude of REAL sins Obama’s committed in office instead of repeating easily discredited nonsense that makes all us conservatives look like paranoid cranks?

In other words, Walker's lackeys were caught red-handed.

They're all useless, but some are more useless than others.

yep, red-handed.

Walker probably had this conspiracy planned before he ever ran for office.

the emails to prove it, are probably being written as we speak.

It's a story on the morning of big election by a propaganda machine and you accept it without question?

If you seek perfection you will end up with Democrats.
