When I went in the Navy in 1969 there was one guy who had “no preference” put on his dog tag. None of us bugged him about it but the Company Commander did not particularly approve. Plus, when we had the chance to go home at Christmas or stay in the barracks, he was the only one who chose to stay. This meant the CC had to stay, too. He was one pissed off First Class Petty Officer. To him the %$^^*($ @@@$$#$%% atheist made him work on Christmas!
Reminds me of a story about Jerry Lee Lewis told to me by his first drummer. They were all on a bus out in the middle of nowhere at about 3 in the morning when one of the men on the bus said he was an atheist. Jerry Lee kicked him off the bus.
What ever belief system a person has is his business and no one elses. It is very personal and no one has the right to intrude on it in any fashion. Thank you for your response. JM
