28 Mar 11 - Although the media has done a great job of covering this up, the inconvenient fact is that all seven glaciers on Californias Mount Shasta are growing. This includes Whitney Glacier, the state's largest.
Yes, growing. Not melting.
Not only are Mt. Shasta's glaciers growing, two have nearly doubled in size.
Both the Hotlum and Wintun Glaciers have nearly doubled in size since 1950, says this article on Wikipedia. The Bolam Glacier has increased by half, while the Whitney and Konwakiton Glaciers have grown by a third.
Scientists first became aware of these growing California glaciers in 2002, and I began writing about them in 2003. Now, eight years later, most media outlets still refuse to acknowledge that these glaciers are growing.

Count on it. The snowpack around Mt. Whitney is over 200% of normal this year. I needed an ice axe and crampons on the 96 switchbacks part of the Whitney Trail back in August of '69 after the huge winter of 1968-'69. Of course, there were no safety cables installed along the trail back then.

We lost the summit due to thunderstorms. This year is hopefully the year.
As I recall a hiker was killed by lightning near Trail Camp two years ago.
Please use the new correct terminology. These people believe in Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Alteration. I encourage everyone to use it whenever dealing with these charlatans.
Carefully examine the term, look at the acronym, if you are unsure why.
I don’t know your definition of lower level but Mount Shasta is over 14,000 feet high?
Gore should go and get a life and live in Colorado or Utah, in either of these states, there are plenty of areas where, given the good old mountain weather, you can get about six months of snow and fairly cold temperatures.
It’s true, it takes heat to make snow. :’)
