MADISON, Wis. (AP) Wisconsins polarizing law that curbs union rights has been set aside for about two months after a judge said Friday that a restraining order blocking it would stay in place while she considers whether Republicans passed it illegally.
Republicans had been pushing the law through despite a boycott by Democratic state senators and weeks of protests. But they suffered a defeat on Thursday when the same judge, Maryann Sumi of Dane County Circuit Court, declared the law was not enacted last week as Republicans had claimed.
Judge Sumi on Friday extended indefinitely a temporary restraining order preventing the secretary of state from putting the law in effect. She is considering a lawsuit that says Republican lawmakers did not provide the proper public notice when they convened a special committee to amend the plan before its passage. The state has appealed the order to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, but the court has not indicated whether it will take the case.

Ignore the judge and do it anyway.
Why can’t they just pass it again with all the public notice that the law requires?
Just bankrupt the old moonbat. Send her through the court process for the rest of her miserable life.
Also add Right to Work and Voter ID bills at the same time.
I have read different versions of how her Son is involved with Unions. If he is just a union member, I don’t see a problem.
If her Son works for a union then she should have not heard the case.
Does anyone know the correct story?
Well, if you’re right about it being real clear, there’ll be no problem. However, if it’s not clear and if opponents can tie it up for years in litigation, then it might make sense to do it over in a manner which cannot be disputed.
I read through their constitution and it's pretty clear on the way legislation becomes law. This judge is talking about a mere ministerial matter what involves the Executive INFORMING THE PUBLIC of what laws are in effect.
The law is still the law because it was passed by the legislature and signed by the governor.
This particular judge is giving the idea of bothering to formally notify the public of the passage of legislation a bad name.
It is fine to feel however you want to about this, but there is a method to what some see as madness. There is a critical supreme court election next week - and the unionstas/libs have been throwing everything they have against judge Prosser. If he is defeated, the supreme court will go to the libs and all this crap will be upheld on appeal.
This is the #1 priority right now, not getting into a pissing contests with some tinhorn judge that could potentially influence the election next week.
Either you trust strong conservative leaders like Scott Walker to have and use good judgement - or you don’t. I’m just tired of hearing the same old crap.
Everyone knew.
For weeks there were protests, folks were bused in from from all across the land.
Jacob Jake Sinderbrand, Sumis son [see page nine here], runs a company called Left Field Strategies, a firm that works on political campaigns.

In Dane county. How does a county judge speak for every other county, the state, and the Senate?
Then she has a clear conflict of interest and should beremoved from the case.
Sumi’s son is a political action organizer for a union - either AFL-CIO or AFSCME, not just a member.
She should have recused herself just to be sure of being conflict-of-interest free.
She is also quoted as saying, “Off with their heads! Off with their heads!”
The Dims may have been banking on Walker and his Republican confreres ignoring the TRO on the grounds of "separation of powers." Of course it would have been portrayed by the Dims as an "extreme power grab" on the part of the Republicans.
That the Republicans didn't ignore the TRO precludes their being accused of "violating the law and/or the constitution" as the fleebaggers did just recently along with their union supporters - some of whom were public employees who sought and received falsified doctors notes to justify their illegal strike. It also precludes Republicans looking like hypocrites when they enforce the fines ( $100.00 per day?) levied on the fleebaggers for being in violation of the law.
I, for one, am inclined to trust Gov. Scott Walker. If only he were our governor here in Massachusetts!!!
