REYNOLDS, Ind.—Two meetings in recent days in this Midwestern state showed the predicament facing Sen. Richard Lugar, a six-term Republican with a centrist profile, as he runs for re-election next year.
When Mr. Lugar came to this farming town of 500 people Saturday to build bridges with a local tea-party group, he found mostly skepticism.
"You seem to feel you're somehow indispensable in Washington," Bob Callahan, 65, a retired salesman from Monticello, told the senator at meeting in an elementary-school gym. He compared Mr. Lugar to the professional football quarterback Brett Favre, saying: "There's nothing sadder than an athlete that doesn't know when to get out."

Same ass that denied me a nomination to the academy because he “didn’t think I had what it took”...got my nom from my rep anyway. Not top of the class, but square in the middle. Tween him and my uncle I didn’t even need the motivation of not making my family look bad to take everything that came my way and muscle through.
I could have understood if he just said he’d already allocated his #s like others did, but no he had to say I wasn’t good enough.

Lugar hasn’t faced a tough election..primary or general..in decades..he’s coasted..he’s old, looks tired, and I think this is gonna come across in the primary..same thing happened with Spector...that’s why he lost to Sestak...
I said for a long time I would vote for a Democrat over Lugar. I’ve been wanting to get rid of him THAT bad.
I just hope the old fool goes away if he loses the primary.
Does Indiana have a sore loser law? If not the scumbag will try to run as a write in, Democrat, or independant to poke a stick in the eye of those “extremist” tea partiers.
Those going after Lugar need to make sure that he can’t pull what Murkowski did in Alaska.
Long overdue!!! I've long considered him one of the biggest RINOs in the Senate, and aging too. Where is he on the budget debate, BTW?
Lugar is just a guy out of scedule with the times ~ and he does sound quite senile.
He probably ought to consult with his favorite "death panel" physician on the matter and see if it's time to retire.
