I was thinking the same thing. It's easy to sit alone behind your computer with complete anonymity and make fun of what other people look like.
Just today I had a meltdown because I recently (six months ago) developed some kind of problem with my muscles that the doctors can't figure out yet. I had to stop my daily hour long workouts at the gym and I've gained a lot of weight as a result. I've been working out for years and I was in good shape. It's frustrating to not be able to do the simplest activities without getting exhausted and ending up in pain. But now I qualify to be the butt of peoples' jokes on FR. I probably am a little bigger than the woman we're talking about here.
It really disturbs me because I love this place. I love the political insight and the humor. The funniest people I know are here. But, I always cringe when I read the comments about people's looks because I know there are libs who come here and see this stuff. Yes, they do the same thing on their forums, but why can't we be better?
