Yes, and that is all they are. Their willingness to support Obamacare despite the pitfalls for the constituency which they claim to represent was based solely on the profit that would be generated by their insurance products. They make a fortune peddling their Medicare supplemental insurance, life, health, home, long term care, and other insurance products. The bulk of their web presence is focused on selling their insurance (Link Here). They are clearly a for profit insurance broker and should be recognized accordingly by both the IRS and seasoned American citizens - they are far from concerned about seniors' best interests.

There is one other possibility.
They sell the products of United Health Care Secure Horizons, excellent products. My United Secure Horizons medicare advantage policy this year is called AARP Medicare Complete. When I reupped I spoke with Secure Horizons and told them I didn’t want any thing to do with AARP, just the same policy as before. I was told there is no longer any difference. The AARP policy is now the same as what I have had all along but they put only one set of brochures etc for all
The other possibility is that United Health Care, the largest I think, has taken over AARP
