FACT: As of March 21, 2011 there are 89,171,763 dead people in the system.
FACT: Current population of U.S. is about 310 million.
FACT: That leaves over 600 million possible SSNs available for future assignment.

Thank you for demonstrating my point.
With the upcoming modification, there are plenty. Under the current system, however, many of those couldn’t be used.
