Elen is 13. Steak, potatoes, brocolli, and something for dessert. They were going to make lemon pies, but it didn’t happen with the other things going on today, so I guess we’ll have pie tomorrow, which will make Bill and Tom happy.

I’m not sure I’ll be any more fond of Bill and Tom at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. I do miss them when they’re at Boy Scout camp for a week, though.

Lemon Meringue?
Meringue. What a strange word.
I agree, and yes, it’s supposed to be lemon meringue. I don’t care for meringue, but oh well. I hardly need to be eating lemon pies if I’m going to be Extremely Thin.

In between downloading programs, I’ve been watching the LDS Annual General Conference. I missed the first two hours and that really sucks!
However, it will be on again tomorrow. Hopefully, I’ll be able to watch it all.

Well, of course! It just takes more than 16 hours for me to really notice they’re gone!
"Wages" should be tax free. Income (which was originally supposed to be limited to capital gains, inheritance and the like) should be taxed and tariffs re-established.
Either that or a flat tax. Everybody pays ten percent, even the poor. That way they have skin in the game.
Vets should not have to pay taxes. They've paid.

I agree. Anything that’s supposed to be “meringue” would be better with whipped cream. Why waste all those egg yolks? Whoever invented meringue must not have been hungry.
Capital gains taxes diminish investment, which affects employment. Inheritance taxes are particularly iniquitous, since they transfer a family’s lifetime of accumulation to the government. What’s the government done to deserve what my parents worked for?
Of course, eliminating death taxes would make lots of estate-and-trusts lawyers and accountants go find honest work ...
My Mom would make Lemon Meringue pies late at night.
She chilled the lemon filled pie crusts, and then toasted the meringue under the broiler. Sometimes she sprinkled coconut on top.
She said the “Lemon Meringue Fairy” brought it in the middle of the night. :-)
Fascinating! I don’t like coconut, either.
Did you get to eat them for breakfast?
I think meringue was invented to use the egg white from dishes that required only yolks.

She worked, so when she made us a treat that labour intensive/time consuming, she did it the night before.
We salivated all day.
