A Fort Myers high school senior with Ivy League aspirations and a new set of wheels faces a cloudy future after her arrest on felony charges Friday.
Rachel Anne Hachero, 17, was arrested by Lee County deputies after being accused of pistol-whipping her mother and forcing her to buy the teen a car at gunpoint...She was a member of the school’s Model United Nations team who received honorable mention and third place awards at a Harvard competition...
The events leading to her arrest began Thursday evening when Hachero called her mother and asked her to co-sign for a car... Her mother refused, and the teen threatened to kill her. ..
Hachero pistol-whipped her mother in the head and pointed the gun at the woman’s head and stomach, deputies wrote. The teenager then demanded the mother accompany her to the dealership.

Hachero’s mother declined to prosecute her daughter, however, citing Hachero’s status as an honor student and her acceptance into several Ivy League Schools. Deputies still arrested the teen, and they transported her to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.

Until I had teenage daughters, I wouldn’t have believed this sort of thing was possible.

It’s about out-of-control, spoiled kids, with nothing to do but get into trouble. Chores and/or a part time job would cut much of this behavior.
The white kid across the street has a burglary problem. Actually a 9 burglary problem, so far, coupled with 6 months in jail, so far. He deserves it.
The white, Christian kid next door, with good Christian parents, has a drug/alcohol problem. His thing is to get blitzed & wrap cars around various immovable objects.
BTW, Amish kids regularly get into serious trouble during their period of independence from the religion.

When she gets out on probation, she could go to an Ivy League night school and major in Spanish, and get a “B”.
As it stands, it looks like she’ll be doing Harvard by correspondence for her freshman year.
I’m not sure about that. Lots of teenage brains go haywire in the late teens. The girl could serious mental health problems — like being batshit crazy.

People who say it does have never raised teenage daughters. I found myself being much more compassionate towards parents after raising my two. Young men, when they act out, generally are more self-destructive, but when young women act out.....there is no predicting what is going to happen.

Lee County has a good website for tracking her progress in the Courts. I guess she will be tried as an adult.

For the rest of her life when a potential employer googles her name they will come across this story. She’ll need a new name or be lucky to get a job flipping burgers (”Would you like to get pistol whipped with that?”).

Yep. I’m very tired of parents that allow this type of thing and then unleash their little demons on the rest of us. In no way is correcting a child, abuse. In this case physical contact was justified.
rhinos being slaughtered, poachers were blamed, but it turned out to be rouge juvenile male elephants, gettin their kicks by bullying/killing rinos...
turned out that the 'powers that be' had decided to thin the herds by killing off the elder male 'role model' elephants, and the youth didnt learn manners...
after importing some elder males from another herd, the youngsters were soon whipped [literally] into shape and reported to be on good behavior...all but one, who i believe ultimately got the death sentence for further crimes...
not an excuse for this brat b@tch, but likely another factor in her evil ways...or possible just a simple demonic possesion...
