She was a member of the school’s Model United Nations team Hmm another good reason to toss that UN. However that girl is running the show in that house. Good thing police pressed charges. Armed with a gun & able to be so violent to her mother we don't need her on a campus. She needs mental help & lots of it.

He/She has a drug/alcohol problem.
He/She (Insert excuse).
I have debates (sometimes heated) with my better half over just this sort of thing! 8)

Yes I do get tired of the excuses. Many times I think parents are to blame for the monsters they’ve created in their children. I also believe that some people are just born out & out evil.
