Less than three months into a tea party-flavored Congress, federal budget cuts amount to $10 billion. Government shutdowns total zero.
That translates into twin early triumphs for Republicans, who are determined to reduce spending and have so far defied attempts by congressional Democrats to cast them as an uncontrollable rabble that would just as soon shutter the government as downsize it.
"We've made it clear that a government shutdown is not an optionperiod," GOP Rep. Hal Rogers of Kentucky, the House Appropriations Committee chairman, said recently as the House was voting to cut $6 billion of the $10 billion while keeping the government running through April 8.
Not exactly.

The dust particles are blocking the sun and this dinosaur says he has everything under control.
We are ready to work with him if he is willing to buck the extreme element of his party.
Oh, I’ll just bet you are Chuck, in the same way you are willing to stab any opponent in the back as long as you are able to maintain that status quo.
Only $10 billion?
$10 billion is to that of what needs to be cut...
as...
Obama’s IQ is to that of an average person.
You Need hip waders, when the BS gets that deep.
The problem is that both Libs and Conservatives would agree with your analogy. However, the Libs would say that $10 B is twice what we should cut...
And the politicians are patting themselves on the back about what a great job they are doing.
That's EPIC DRASTICT man.
With a deficit of over $1.5 trillion and a federal debt that exceeds $14 trillion, a $10 billion cut just isn’t impressing me. We’re screwed.
$10 billion? I wouldn’t call that a cut. I wouldn’t even call that a trim. I’d call it a single pluck.
Let me know when the percentage gets up into the double digits.

And my decrepicrat mom is actually starting to like our new Michigan governor.
At $10B every three months, the budget will be balanced in 40 years.
Let’s hope the new Michigan Governor has the guts that Walker has and takes the State of Michigan out of the “Union Dues Collecting” business. This reeks of cronyism and the government should get out of it. If people belong to a Union, they send in the dues - if they don’t send in the dues they have the option of “opting out.” They should also have the right to withhold dues if they disagree with the bulk of their dues going into electing Dems. With the money sent in, you should have a voice. Taking the collection job away from the government will give the union members a voice in how their union is run - which is as it should be.
Labor unions would improve if the rank and file would pull a Jasmine Revolution once in a while, or maybe just bum-rush the HQs beat the overpaid careerist “leadership” to death.
Yeah, if only. The debt is increasing, not decreasing even with this "cut".
That is the GamePlan...
The MSM will NEVER speak the truth on who , what and how a Shutdown comes to pass!
Cutting $10 billion is not a “win”.
With the kind of red ink being racked up daily, it’s a joke.
