Rogue U.S. soldiers snipped the pinky off an Afghan teen they killed for kicks - and later used it to wage a bet while playing spades, a blockbuster expose reports.
That's one of the shocking stories in a new Rolling Stone magazine expose of an Army "kill team" that targeted innocent Afghan civilians for death.
Staff Sgt. Calvin Gibbs, the squad leader and main target of the Army's ongoing war crimes investigation, allegedly sliced the finger off Gul Mudin - the approximately 15-year-old Afghan that Spc. Jeremy Morlock and Pfc. Andrew Holmes are accused of killing.
"When it came time for their wager, Morlock and Holmes said they would bet a finger," Mark Boal reported MOnday in the magazine. "Then they tossed the finger that Gibbs had sliced from Mudin's body on the card pile."
Seventeen revolting photographs taken by the soldiers - including one of a severed head and another showing a pair of blown off legs - accompany the article by Boal, who won an Oscar for writing "The Hurt Locker" screenplay.

Yes, reveling in the death itself and desecrating the body you have just killed .....
If U.S. soldiers are found guilty of participating in a Afghanistan ‘kill team’ that murdered innocent Afghanis for sport, should they face the death penalty?
Yes 70%
No 25%
I’m not sure 5%
Hard to believe some would give these young men the death penalty and yet Gitmo scum still live.
Creasy: I am going to ask questions. If you don’t answer fully and truthfully, you will suffer much more than you have to. I’m going to cut your fingers off. One by one, if I have to.
It's true! I read it on the Internet.
...I’ll see your boys thumb and raise you a grandmothers eyeball.....
THIS on Obama’s watch? THIS on Gate’s and Clinton’s watch. This is the same as if they committed these crimes and they need to go, hearings immediately as to what they knew and when they knew it. This begins at the top.
Theres nothing like innocent until proven guilty when it comes to the press.
Perhaps you should read the article in its entirety......
Morlock, shown in several pictures holding a dead man's head by the hair, has already pleaded guilty to murder during his court-martial.
Rolling Stone — the Jane Fonda of magazines.
Do not all wars kill civilians? Are not all wars Hell? Is winning not about, well, winning?
And the uproar is because? Softie libbies want to make nicey-nice with jihadists. Reminds me of that old hippie (RIP) who sang to grizzlies. Doesn’t work.
I don’t believe it
First of all, thank you for all you done for the U.S and for freedom. Second, I believe your character witness testimony over this lurid story. Nevertheless, I have a sickening "here we go again" feeling.
With the thousands of “trophy” pictures out there, Americans are going to be more than willing to believe the worst. Rolling Stone pretty much has license to print the most damaging hearsay their anonymous sources will give them. This will eventually break what’s left of the country’s will to fight this war any longer.
At the appropriate time, when it’s Afghanistan’s turn at the Wheel of Revolution, the MSM will dutifully take this story and run full-tilt with it. I’m guessing this will happen a little closer to Obama’s July withdrawal date, maybe early May. By then, with all hell breaking loose in Afghanistan, the average American will be demanding an end to the conflict and Obama will be more than happy to accommodate them.
From there, the chaos will spread to Pakistan. Shortly thereafter, the world will have a nuclear Taliban.
I hope like hell I’m wrong. But that’s where this appears to be headed.
Yea. Pleading guilty. Apparently many on FR blow opinion before actually reading the article. This makes me ill frankly and I am not "proud" of these assholes in the least.
Rolling Stone has a video of some US soldiers killing a pair of Afghans on a motorcycle, on a page where they talk about our forces "killing civilians".
Unfortunately for Rolling Stone, when you actually view the video, the sharp-eyed viewer notices one of the dead Afghans is laying on top of an AK, and both are wearing AK mag harnesses. Discussed on this thread.
My father who landed at Normandy and carried a BAR and
had two guys packing ammo for him was haunted by what he
saw done by GI`s to prisoners and casulties
People go a little crazy in war, sometimes a whole lot of crazy. That type are the fighters in a war
Those Rolling Stone suns of beaches still are evil leftists
I did read the article. Soldiers are trained to follow orders. That includes pleading guilty. Who says the dead were civilians? When fighting irregulars, the Geneva Convention does not apply.
I suggest you don't take pictures of yourself committing war crimes. Not only were these public school educated morons killers, they provided evidence against themselves.
I’ll see the eyeball and raise you one gonad.Ugh!
I believe these acts are the result of being stuck in a foreign land with their lives in constant danger and no clear objective to give them a sense of purpose. They feel like they are “expendable” for no good reason, the ultimate disrespect that can be shown to a man. The lack of respect shown to our troops on the ground by the leadership in this breeds a lack of respect for everything else around them.
Not trying to justify what these jackholes did, and I hope they hang if they are guilty. But maybe dicking around for the last 10 years in A-Stan playing PC games without much tangible/visible change has consequences.
