Madison teachers given until April 15 to rescind fake doctors' notes (Teachers get a do-over!)

Madison teachers who missed school last month to attend protests and turned in fraudulent doctor's notes have been given until April 15 to rescind those notes, officials said Thursday.

The district received more than 1,000 notes from teachers, human resources director Bob Nadler said. A couple hundred of those were ruled fraudulent because they appeared to be written by doctors at the Capitol protests against Gov. Scott Walker's proposal to limit collective bargaining.

Teachers who don't rescind fraudulent notes could receive a disciplinary letter of suspension, the most serious form of discipline aside from termination, Nadler said. The suspension would be considered already served — the time missed during the protests.

"We didn't want to give anybody more time off," Nadler said. "They can't afford it. We can't afford to have them gone any more. I don't think kids need their teacher gone another two days."

Teachers who rescind their note would receive a more minor "letter of expectation" and be docked pay at the end of the school year for the four missed days.

Nadler said the majority of notes came from doctor's offices and the district doesn't plan on calling each one to determine if the excuse was legitimate.

The district has yet to finish tabulating the number of teachers who were absent Feb. 16-18 and 21, Nadler said.

Teachers get another chance to create a fake excuse for what was obviously an unauthorized absence from work and a violation of their employment agreement.

It will be interesting to see how many are at least honest and take the reduction in pay for days missed, vs. how many will simply try to get better at perpetuating the fraud.

Any WI taxpayers should be DEMANDING their local school boards examine every single note and call every doctors office to verify they are legit.

This is insulting to everyone who DOES actually work for a living. If any of us submitted a fake doctor’s note, we’d be canned or otherwise sanctioned in half a heartbeat.

The next step is for whoever licenses Doctors in Wisconsin to begin their own investigation to determine who wrote these fraudulent notes and then yank their medical licenses.

Any child ever punished for plagiarizing a paper in WI should immediately file an “equal protection” lawsuit.

If a child turned in a phony paper or note and was punished for it, they should be given the same chance to get a real one.

I’d give them a “time out”.

The time would be for the rest of their lives - OUT of teaching...and somewhere their talents are more aligned with their job requirements. Armed robbery comes to mind.

So, are there ANY repercussions from their actions? What’s stopping them from doing again, again and again?

” fraudulent notes “

What part of “FRAUD” is so difficult to understand???

These teachers and ‘doctors’ committed a felony,(at least one - presenting falsified documents for the purpose of fraudulently obtaining government funds, ie ‘sick pay’, or ‘excused time off’) and should be prosecuted and jailed - and *then* fire them....

Sounds like they are being rewarded for the thing they did wrong. That is, they are being given "credit" for "time served" for the time they were doing the protest, which is the very thing they did wrong that warranted the sanction.

Am I missing something, or does that sound like Bizzaro World?

There is an investigation into the fake-note Doctors, but I havent’ heard how many lashes with a wet noodle they will be receiving.

Every kid in Madistan schools should demaned a do-over for any tests or homework missed - simply tell the adminstration that they “can’t afford” a bad grade.

By this logic, if they robbed a bank all would be cool if they simply returned the money.

I once knew a bank officer who wrote himself a fake loan and robbed his own bank. He repented and repaid the money and told his Board of Directors what he did and how he did it. He still had to spend 3 years in Leavenworth.

I think that would be a good outcome for these fake teachers and fake doctors.

It was five weeks ago, and the district has not yet been able to tabulate how many/which teachers were gone over those days? That is ridiculous. If it was students who were out, they’d be able to tell you the same friggin’ day.

Coincidentally, WI Senator Glen Grothmann on talk radio just now explaining the need for budget reform in education - for exmaple $1500 credits for private school tuition to help parents move their kids out of the “proselytizing left-wing teachers who tell their students every day that Scott Walker is evil”. Cost per student in WI public schools is up to $12,000 per year - does anyone doubt it?

Exactly. They should go to jail.

And if there is no consequences for these teachers then from now on every student will have moral claim to being able to cheat on tests, make false hall passes, and sick excuses with no consequences. Unless they are also advocating hypocrisy?

What kind of a world will that create do you think? *a world full of democrats perhaps?

And how have the hippies and their standards in the ‘60s contributed to this mess?

Instead of punishing them with four days of unpaid suspension, they’re going to not pay them for the four days they voluntarily weren’t there, and call that the unpaid suspension. Hey, if I rob a bank and get caught, I’ll just give the money back, and we’ll call the few days I spent in hiding to avoid getting caught my time served.
