The hypocrisy is that he talks about how religion is for fools, denies science, and poisons everything...yet when his life is on he line he is going to not just a Christian doctor but an evangelical one.

I understand the point that he chose him for being a doctor and not for being a Christian. The point you and others are missing is that his choice shows his contention that religion is for the uneducated masses is BS. At least when your life is on the line and you are not promoting a book.

Hopefully he will be saved in the way that matters.

The hypocrisy is that he talks about how religion is for fools,

And I am sure he still believes that.

He was hiring a physician not a Pope.

I have no idea what religion my Cardiologist is, and it wouldn't matter anyway.

Results not religious beliefs is what we are all hiring when we hire a professional.

I see no hypocrisy.

Some people seem to be asking that Hitchens un-say what he has said, or perhaps for you to pretend that he has un-said what he said. Christopher Hitchens said, "Mockery of religion is one of the most essential things..." Here are some interesting comments from Amazon reviewers of his book "God is not greatL: how religion poisons everything."
Hitchens' style: So many names are dropped you need an umbrella. Hitchens rubs elbows with glamorous people; he reads famous writers. On the other hand, Hitchens refers, repeatedly, to anyone who believes in God as a "yokel." This patina of sophistication shielded by venom intimidates some into deferring to Hitchens as a great mind

people of faith are stupid, hypocritical, and evil; scapegoat this other as the cause of all the world's problems,

Then Hitchens voices, about this undifferentiated "other," bigoted stereotypes, using the classic imagery of prejudice that associates the scapegoated "other" with subhuman life forms. In an appearance with David Horowitz promoting this book, Hitchens equated persons of faith with plague-bacilli-ridden, sewer-breeding rats.

Why aren't atheists horrified by the anger and hatred you find in this book? Do they all just not notice it because they are that way themselves?
