Undocumented immigrants will lose some civil benefits in budget

Items in Gov. Scott Walker’s new biennial budget would cut programs that provide aid and support to immigrants, a move that has drawn outrage among immigrant advocacy groups.

Walker’s 2011-2013 budget contains proposals that would end access to in-state tuition for undocumented immigrant college students and eliminate the FoodShare program for low-income legal immigrants.

The Milwaukee-based immigrant advocacy organization Voces de la Frontera reacted to the proposals with harsh criticism.

“With this budget, Walker is seeking to institutionalize discrimination against low-income immigrant families,” Executive Director Christine Neumann-Ortiz said.

In terms of eliminating the FoodShare program, which benefits legal immigrants who do not meet federal residency requirements, Walker said the growing cost of the program was unsustainable in the budget bill.

Rep. Donald Pridemore, R-Hartford, who will introduce a bill this week giving police the right to ask for proof of residency from criminal suspects, said he supported these budgetary measures on philosophical grounds.

“It’s not a question of how much money it’ll save us. It’s a question of principle. We shouldn’t be giving any taxpayer-funded benefits to people who have come to this country illegally,” Pridemore said.

Most on the Left leave out the word ‘undocumented’. I have been accused of being anti-immigrant due to my position on illegals. My husband is a legal immigrant to this country. Even my own family members have tried that accusation with me. They simply aren't logical or have completely bought into the lies of the Left.

Struggling taxpayers are subsidizing these immigrant advocacy organizations like Voces de la Frontera.....probably through the racist La Raza which is sucking up millions of federal tax dollars.

We should take these pronouncements with a grain of salt. Obviously latinos hope to intimidate Americans. The latino PR machine is going at mach speed....thanks to our tax dollars funding their mouthpiece---La Raza. They are flexing their muscles to gain political power...........Third World satraps are egging then on b/c they hunger for US tax dollars to pour into their hellholes.

The applicants would swear that they would never apply for public assistance and would sign documents to the same ...

under the penalty of deportation...

The applicant had to prove they would bring at least $US1000 40 years ago...

or have a sponsor that would put that much up in advance..

that was to pay for the first 3 months until the new immigrant got their green card and could work

or a plane ticket back to their own country if they committed a felony and were deported...

or a misdemeanor that demanded deportation

It was also a deportation if the immigrant worked before they got their green card..

Don't forget that today many legal immigrants waltz right onto SSI and sundry other entitlements. Other work at salaries so low that their employment is subsidized by the safety net, i.e. tax payers.

Neumann-Ortiz identified the proposal ... as particularly harmful toward the undocumented immigrant Illegal Alien community.

“One of our members, an undocumented student ILLEGAL ALIEN supporting her young family, is only able to study engineering at UW-Milwaukee because she has access to in-state tuition,” ... “If this item in the budget goes through, she would have to drop out of school. She would be forced to pay out-of-state tuition, which she can’t afford ...”

'Series' - Okay Neumann-Ortiz let's say your ILLEGAL ALIEN continues to get in-state tuition, graduates, and gets her BSME degree.

So now what 'Neumann'? First off she can't legally get a job at an Engineering Firm. And if she somehow did - like with phony papers (SS Card and DL). If she was working on any type of government funded project, or even a little addition to an Elementary School, she couldn't PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK you moron!

And an Engineer that cannot go to a jobsite for a meeting or to review a problem is .. USELESS!

So all that taxpayer funded education money for your ILLEGAL was for nothing. FBI Background Checks are the norm now for any type of gubmint contract, not only construction as was my scenario. So she may as well drop out and get a job as a maid in a Red Roof Inn. Because Ortiz - Illegal is still, ILLEGAL!

My parents sponsored my mother’s best friend when she came from England to visit and wanted to stay. She lived with us when I was young.
My parents had to agree that they would provide her room and board and any help she needed to bring her education credentials and certifications in line with American standards. They did so until she was able to obtain the necessary licensing for her occupation and get a job and apt of her own.
