Since I am a chemist, I knew about the acetone. I've heard that soaking in water as hot as you can stand will also soften cyanoacrylate -- but haven't had a need to try it....
At my "well-established" '-) age, my nails sometimes get very brittle; thanks for the fingernail tip!

I take bird houses and turn them into Fairy houses to put in your flower garden..Using lots of natural stuff like bark and moss in making and landscaping a fairy house, I glue my fingers together regularly...The acetone takes off most and then hot soapy water cleans them pretty good. I don't think hot water alone would do it, but then again, I never tried it...:O) I just wish it came in larger sizes than those little tubes. Sometimes the tube will ooze out glue from some place other than the tip. yuk. Fingers stick to the tube quite quick...but being water proof, and then spraying them with clear lacquer, they take the outside weather quite well
