Harry Coover, creator of Super Glue, dies at 94

KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Harry Wesley Coover Jr., known as the inventor of Super Glue, has died at his home in Kingsport, Tenn. He was 94.

Coover was working for Tennessee Eastman Company when an accident resulted in Super Glue, according to his grandson, Adam Paul of South Carolina.

I take bird houses and turn them into Fairy houses to put in your flower garden..Using lots of natural stuff like bark and moss in making and landscaping a fairy house, I glue my fingers together regularly...The acetone takes off most and then hot soapy water cleans them pretty good. I don't think hot water alone would do it, but then again, I never tried it...:O) I just wish it came in larger sizes than those little tubes. Sometimes the tube will ooze out glue from some place other than the tip. yuk. Fingers stick to the tube quite quick...but being water proof, and then spraying them with clear lacquer, they take the outside weather quite well

When you could find it. It was VERY hard (almost impossible) for hobbyists to get. I remember high prices in the mid 60s, but not that high.

Very hard to find then....we used it in our lab. Aerospace
SoCal missile development. We just had to show justification.
