Libyan rebel commander admits his fighters have al-Qaeda links

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited "around 25" men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are "today are on the front lines in Adjabiya".
Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists," but added that the "members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader".
His revelations came even as Idriss Deby Itno, Chad's president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, "including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries".
Mr al-Hasidi admitted he had earlier fought against "the foreign invasion" in Afghanistan, before being "captured in 2002 in Peshwar, in Pakistan". He was later handed over to the US, and then held in Libya before being released in 2008.
US and British government sources said Mr al-Hasidi was a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, or LIFG, which killed dozens of Libyan troops in guerrilla attacks around Derna and Benghazi in 1995 and 1996.

It’s time that Congress seek answers before we continue to weaken Al Qaeda’s opposition.
You are forgetting what the mission is. The mission is to protect innocent Islamic terrorists. Not to unseat Daffy.
You're reasoning is off. I'm not forgetting what Obama's mission is. I don't even know what the hell his mission is. Instead, I am telling you what the mission should be.
Daffy is but a mosquito in the scheme of things.
He killed 189 Americans and you think he is a mosquito in the "scheme of things".
Unbelievable.
So, are you into protecting Osamas buddies?
No.
Here's an idea. I know it's an outrageous idea. We remove terrorists wherever they are found, and whatever side they are found.
Sounds like something a chickensh!t would do. Lets send Barry down there on foot to go oust him. Hows that grab ya?
Do me a favor Chris. When you have something coherent to say, give me a ping.
Thanks.
No, I just think you are wrong. I know who Daffy is. He is no worse than those that want to replace him. They are equally as bad.
Revenge is empty. Why just last week a father of one of the people that died on the Pan Am flight was on FOX and was not for intervention in Libya.
Now why would he want someone elses Dad, kid, brother or uncle to die working for the people who killed the folks on 9/11?
Because if he is not, if he really has any skills beyond teleprompter reading, then it is clear that he is trying very hard to create a radical Muslim Caliphate over the entire world, and destroy the US in the process.
This is a critically important story.
Suggest moving to Breaking or FPN.
No, I just think you are wrong. I know who Daffy is. He is no worse than those that want to replace him. They are equally as bad.
You (and I, both) don't know who is going to replace Gaddafi. For all we know this al-Hasidi terrorist is not commanding any forces in the rebellion, and he may not even be on the scene. There are numerous reports that suggest, there are other people unrelated to Al Qaeda, who are leading the rebellion.
The bottom line is we don't know how many of the rebels, if any, are Al Qaeda. If we determine that some are Al Qaeda, then we remove them too.
It's what we used to do, before we reverted back to this pre 9/11 mindset.
Sorry FR, look at Egypt, that should tell you all you need to know. Muslims use Americans to fight their battles and then turn on them. A caliphate is in progress and you need to wake up.
Do you really think Obama is fighting for democracy and the interests of the USA? I think not. However, you are free to your own opinion.
Okay, I'm trying to have a discussion with you and you've now used this lame strawman fallacy twice.
As I told you in a previous post, I don't even know what the hell Obama's mission is. It probably has to do with the UN and the removal of our sovereignty, but that's not what I'm addressing. What I'm doing is telling you what the mission should be.
Do you understand that?
This is why Hussein is helping in Libya and ignoring Syria.
Obama must be arrested immediately.
You have to be able to laugh, especially during times like these.
Here’s something coherent.
This is Barry’s war, let him go fight it all by himself.
Barry's reasons are all wrong, and he isn't fighting it to win it.
Yep, I know, not only can I not figure out what’s going on or why, but it is pissing me off so much it’s hard to sit here in my own skin...thus causing me to make an occassional incoherent post >,>
Seriously, this is bad, I’ve lost faith in my country, I no longer know who we are or why we are. I hate this man for doing this to my beloved America ><.
Please, do not embarrass yourself any more. Or...go over to the Obama site and add your cheers!
Please, do not embarrass yourself any more. Or...go over to the Obama site and add your cheers!
Okay, I disagree with Barry, therefore I should go over to an Obama site and cheer Obama?
Do you realize how idiotic your comment is?
Why don't you head over to a retard site?
LOL!
One thing I do know is that you are idiotic and I know why.
How sad you are, You cannot even face the truth.
I found a retard right here, that is you.
What are we in it to win it for? What exactly are we winning?
LOL
