Grassley Says Only ‘2 or 3’ Republicans Are Qualified for White House(plays classcard)

Senator Chuck Grassley, Republican of Iowa, offered a blunt, no-nonsense assessment of the potential Republican field of candidates for president. He said only two or three of them would be qualified to hold the highest office in the land.
And then he refused to say which ones they were.
In an interview with KJAN radio in Iowa, Mr. Grassley said that although it was too early for him to pick a favorite, he would focus on which candidate could emerge from the states caucus in a position to carry on a full-blown campaign.
It wouldnt do me much good to back somebody that won in Iowa if they cant carry on the campaign elsewhere, Mr. Grassley told the radio stations listeners.
He said it was a surprise to learn that Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, was traveling abroad, perhaps in an attempt to burnish her foreign policy credentials.
She may be more seriously considering than I thought because, quite frankly, shes making so much money, been lower-middle class in income all of her life and is making some good money now and thinking about her family and her future that I didnt think she was going to be a candidate, he said.

Here I think Grassley lets the cat out of the bag and declares the real reason the gop bigwigs do not like Gov Palin she comes from the middle class. Does this comment by grassley not vindicate Gov Palin's assertion that the "blue-bloods" in the Gop are against her running for POTUS?
The gop primary is shaping up to be a battle of class. The poor and middle class that believe in the concept of rags to riches through strong work ethic, character and god given ability vs the know nothings that believes your worth is determined by your lineage.
If the gop establishment continues to shape the primary in those terms they will lose because there are many millions more of the former than the latter.

I thank Goodness that grassley is guiding me. He is so intelligent and all-seeing. He is obviously so much more informed and more intelligent than everyone else. If it weren’t for people like him I might just sit down and die.

Using the current POTUS’s qualifications as a yardstick, I’d say there about 500 Republicans qualified for the White House...

It’s certainly more than the number of qualified democrats, that’s for sure.

Sorry, but nobody from Iowa should be making comments about who is qualified to be President.
EVERY single person in that state is on welfare.

That goes to tell everything the Tea Party people need to know about this arrogant SOB.

How long has Grassley been a Senator from Iowa? About 75 years? And he's never risen above that?
Kind of reminds me of Moammar (sp?) Kadaffy (sp?) who has been the head of his military for 42 years but has never risen above the rank of Colonel.

He said only two or three of them would be qualified to hold the highest office in the land. I'd like to hear the good Senator's opinion of Obama. Does he think Obama is qualified to hold the highest office in the land?

been lower-middle class in income all of her life Seems like Grassley think he's a patrician and the Senate he belongs to is the Roman one, not the American one.

Having served in the Senate since 1981, I see Chuck is in full agreement with his “good friends across the aisle”.

Grassley is just “fishing” for a candidate to promise the VP slot to him.

I believe between her fishing business, salary as governor, and Todd's union job on the slope, they were taking in 175-200 grand per year. Not rich by any means. But not "lower-middle class." I make half that which must make me a real POS to him.

Only someone with governor experience is really qualified to be president.
Congresscritters and Senators have traditionally made lousy presidents. They’re great at working through details and interfacing with others, but they are not used to anything except decision by committee.
A president needs to make decisions quickly, decisively and alone. Governors fit the profile.
