Libya rebels 'recapture key town'
bbc ^

Libyan rebels backed by allied air raids say they have seized control of the frontline oil town of Ajdabiya from Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's forces.

The BBC's Ben Brown in Ajdabiya says there are scenes of jubilation among the insurgents.

Gaddafi loyalists seized the town last week as they advanced east to quell an uprising now in its fifth week.

Saturday's breakthrough came after a seventh night of bombardment by allies enforcing a UN-mandated no-fly zone.

Coalition forces pounded Ajdabiya overnight, destroying Gaddafi armoured vehicles and weaponry.

Large explosions were also heard in the Libyan capital Tripoli on Saturday morning.

Witnesses said a military radar site was on fire in that city's suburb of Tajura, a previous target of the air raids.

A correspondent for the AFP news agency also reported that Ajdabiya was back under rebel control.

Defensive positions previously held by pro-Gaddafi forces stood deserted as rebels rolled into the town celebrating, the agency reported.

The insurgents were seen sounding car horns and flashing V for victory signs.

Libyan “rebels” decide to take on the powers that be. We’ve no idea who they are and what their goal is, but we’re borrowing BILLIONS of dollars to defend them from the bad guys. Oh, and some of our troops could be killed.

Hmmmmmmmmm......seems like a more than passingly strange way to spend borrowed money.

Just sayin’.....

“Libya rebels ‘recapture key town’

should read

“Al Qaeda recatures key town with the help of The Great Satan.”

On to Tripoli, but they still have to get back Ras Lanuf, and Sirte which was Qadaffi’s intended new capitol with who knows what degree of support.

Regarding the Caliphate. Originally this was the cause of the schism between Sunni and Shiite, with the Sunni wanted an ostentatious magnificent Caliphate and the Shiites wanted a more modest form of living. If that is still the view, then the Shiites and the Sunnis are going to have to come to peace themselves before there is any universal Muslim Caliphate.

Nothing like crowing for Al Qaida is there.

Got to love olde Barry Soetoro, he bombs Al Qaida in Pakistan with out the permission of Pakistan, runs a war in Afghanistan killing Al Qaida, then he protects em in Libya.

This jerk lies out of both sides of his mouth.

Question, would Barry be able to recognize a truth if it slapped him in the face? Let’s find out and arrest him for treason and usurpation of the White House.

Good. Now, on to Tripoli and hang that SOB.

And then five more years in Libya fighting off Al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The good news is we are helping AQ get surface to air missles to help shoot down our planes.

It appears Obama’s plan to destroy America is working.

Democrat/Liberal/Communists must be very happy.

Most probably there is much truth in your post, though iran is the wild card. Watch the rhetoric from iran if the saudi royals clamp down on their people as iran has clamped down on their people. Another thing to watch is the leaders, here in the USA, and their rhetoric if the saudi royals come close to being overthrown or looks as though the saudi royals could be overthrown. Should the people of saudi arabia begin to riot in earnest the clues will be in iran and the USA. This will be quite telling in the events which will then unfold regarding caliphate, Africa, the Mid-East, and the remainder of the world’s nations ... imho

Ha. Wait until the new team sticks it to Europe by selling product to India and China instead of them . These dopes thought they had the flow tied up when they backed the new thugs . AQ will soon be drowning in petro dollars while the frogs and the brits pay 20 bucks a gallon. Ha.

There are reports of commandos on the ground in Libya right now, and that the US and NATO is preparing a ground invasion for sometime in mid to late April.

“Coalition forces pounded Ajdabiya overnight, destroying Gaddafi armoured vehicles and weaponry.”

No Fly Zone Patrol?”

They are trying to make up for all the ground they lost while Obama and the Brits were dithering at the U.N. That necessitates we not only take out the Libyan air resources but also their armor and defensive positions.

Our air-forces need to soften up the Loyalist army so the rebels can almost just walk in.

The good news is this is possible to do at a reasonable cost.

But we still need the Rebels to move in for the kill and secure control of their country on the ground.

Like it or not Air can level the playing field for them but we can never control a country from a 1000+ feet up.

Oh, ok. So this is not a mission to enforce a no fly zone. This is an aerial intervention in a civil war.

By the way, this is who we are softening up the Loyalist army for so they can just walk in.

I don’t thinks so. I know you do. And your assumptions, like Qaddafi’s propaganda, make you see all of his enemies as al Qaeda. He’s the best bulwork against al Qaeda, as this thinking goes. I respectfully disagree.

So are we are helping Al Qaeda terrorist take over Libya and send Daffy packing?

I don’t understand what is going on.

Is this a good thing?

Careful, this is the aim of the Obama Regime. They want to spread the petro dollars to all of the lowest in society.

They really believe that America is too rich and should share.

Until we begin the round up of these liberals and start eradicating those who would support the demise of America we are lost.
