Yeah, is there any connection to them taking over the NATO leadership role (Obama, you magnificiant knucklehead) and this vote of no confidence?
weird timing

When do we attack Canada? I mean, we’re running out of mideast countries.

It’s a useless governing coalition anyway; Harper needs a majority.

Well, seems it’s either fundamental or comprehensive; two marxist words.

Looks that way, at first glance. I have no idea if the earlier announcement a Canadian general would be leading the NATO Libyan operation has anything to do with this. However it’s sure a big coincidence they happen on the same day.

Good for Harper. This is what real leadership looks like. Amass your successes and take them to the people and ask for more power to really lead. I don’t see how he could effectively get anything done otherwise.

The Canadians were setting up for elections anyway so this is really nothing to get too worked up about. My guess is the Liberals will have some gains and so will the NDP. The Conservatives will be back to their usual thing of being the whipping boy for the Libs much the same as the GOP never acts like a winning party.

This is over the federal budget, unveiled by Harper two days ago.

Four elections in seven years is a bit much...that’s what happens with minority governments.

Harper does need a majority. However, he never formed a governing coalition. He just played one Opposition party off against the others, in a series of masterful political maneuvers, over the last 5 years. A remarkable achievement by itself. A real coalition would have involved power-sharing — a presence in Cabinet.
OTOH, the Opposition parties did try to form a coalition 2 years ago, to take down the Conservative minority government (the socialist-opportunist-separatist coalition). Before they could vote non-confidence, Harper went to the Governor General and convinced her to prorogue Parliament. Before Parliament reconvened, the coalition had self-destricuted.
On a side note, Canada is turning into a 3rd world dumping ground with muzzies running amok. The Great White North is fast turning into the Great Mosque North.

Not in Alberta, at least.
