Good for Harper. This is what real leadership looks like. Amass your successes and take them to the people and ask for more power to really lead. I don’t see how he could effectively get anything done otherwise.
The Canadians were setting up for elections anyway so this is really nothing to get too worked up about. My guess is the Liberals will have some gains and so will the NDP. The Conservatives will be back to their usual thing of being the whipping boy for the Libs much the same as the GOP never acts like a winning party.
It’s all about the liberals, socialists, and seperatists ganging up on the conservatives.
Before I moved to America in 07, I was part of the British Columbia wing of the Harper’s Conservative Party. I just checked my e-mails and the C Party already contacted me to come back and or/donate LOL. Worked closely with the donors who ramped up the money.
That’s the beauty of Canadian elections. Once the current government is defeated in a roll vote, they can call the elections immediately unlike in America. It’s like the GOP asking the Feds for another presidential election because the GOP won Congress. I still remember the anti-American PM’s in Martin and Chretien back to back elections within a span of 1 year.
I wish we could have this mechanism in the U.S.
The good thing is Canada’s opposition is blessed with mediocrities no one ever heard of... outside of Ontario. They could never form a coherent government.
