It's absolutely true. But I do think that this tactic is going to be less well received in the future.

I think we now have the tools, and (in some) the Will to lay this before the American people and say "You see what they're doing, right? Dan Quayle wasn't dumb. Bush had a good economy. Sarah Palin has great accomplishments. Michelle Bachmann is a fine person. Do you see? Democrats lie to you, manipulate you, and drive our country into decline -- and they want you to think that these women are to blame for our current sorry state."
Perhaps I'm overly optimistic, but I think the politics of personal destruction is a losing game for the Democrats now. We are prepared to fight back, and they will come off very badly.
And the left wanted him to spend even more on New Orleans!
