At 92 decibels, this kitty's purr sounds more like a plane landing than a cat resting.

Hell, that’s nothing! My grandmother had a cat that resembled a small tiger! This was a 25 pound cat that could rip your arm off! When it hissed it would make your hair stand up on your neck! If you tried to pet it it would claw your hand to shreds. Now THAT was cat!

When I was a kid we adopted a kitten we named “Ampi” as in amplifier. It was the loudest cat I’ve ever heard, even as a kitten.

One of our 4 has that sort of purr. Not as loud of course, but the same extra sound to it. Better a good natured kitteh with a loud warbling purr than a hissing hellspawn!
