Sorry guy, but Palin being for TARP and now a UN backed war are going to hurt her in the debates.
They just don't understand, we have been through 6 elections on this forum and have seen this happen before. Some of us just might know a thing or two in retrospect.
[Well, EXCUSE me! Im really sorry my opinions offend you. Oh, wait, no Im not sorry.
Now that I think about it a little, if you cant live knowing my opinion, why dont you ESAD?]
Hey, I’m not the negative Nelly here. You are the one who believes there is no future. I’m just saying, if nothing is worth fighting for and in this case if Palin is so awful, why not just crawl off in a corner instead of bothering the rest of us? Or at least tell us who your idea of the great conservative savior is???
You Betcha!
[Sorry guy, but Palin being for TARP and now a UN backed war are going to hurt her in the debates.]
And your alternative is? Come on now, you were asked directly to supply an alternative, no guts no glory.
And no I don’t think Palin is perfect, nor was Ronald Reagan. That’s why you have a congress and judiciary and Constitution to over ride the imperfections of whoever is president, so they don’t become an emperor.
So point blank, who is the conservative messiah!!!!?????

It would be downright foolish to pick a nominee based on the idea that anybody with a heartbeat will beat our dear leader.
He beat McCain by 12 million votes in '08. He has a core of liberal/union/black/young/gay voters who all indentity-vote.He has more money than he will need and a social network set-up that mocks the million or so palin FB friends.
He has the media.
The deciding factors in '12 will be the centric white male democrats and the squishy independent voters.
Neither of these is going to cross-over to the GOP on election day if our candidate is viewed as the being nothing but the anti-obama choice. We will have to provide a qualified, experienced option that doesn't scare them or turn them off.
The alternative is four more years of destruction.
He could and I hope he will serve as a sort of Greek Chorus during the process, standing on the edges and calling out that the Emperor has no clothes.
If he gets Rand Paul for VP, there just might be a chance that the General Public will come to our side. Mainly because Huck polls so strongly among independents and moderates.
I don't like Huck all that much because of his past record, but the General Public do not know or care what that record is. What is MOST important is, if Huck HAS seen the light and has changed his future behavior, that is all I need to replace Obama and the Democrats.
Because Huck polls so strongly, has broad name recognition and has been steadfast in appealing Obamacare, he has demonstrated that he is serious about what he believes. He also is a very good speaker and debater and appeals to audiences with his ability to connect.
And, no, he is not perfect, and I have great issues with his past errors, but he has emerged as a strong front runner and deserves another look.
Big, big mistake to underestimate this guy.
In my opinion he will be tough to beat. We can BS all we want on the Internet about Obama; but the fact is he is a very good politician and the election is a long time away.
He will have the fanatical union “dead enders” doing everything they can to oppose any Republican among other supporters.
He’s not Jewish from any source I can find.
His daughter Ivanka did convert to Judaism after marrying a Jew, but that doesn’t make The Donald Jewish.
Also I have a bit more faith than that - if the US elects a black man President I can’t see why not a Jew...
I don’t like Huck at all, but I highly commend you for at least putting a name out there to discuss.
I just get really cranked up by those among the anti-Palin crowd who aren’t brave enough to offer an alternative, or when they do it turns out to be some nut bag like Romney.
I can't imagine ever again supporting someone I have only “Hope” he can win or is the right one for the job. I won't join in, unless and until someone appears that I feel I can support without reservations.
I like Palin, but I don't think she can win, and I don't think I would like to see her win. I think her rating is already worse than obama, and she has no chance.
You are correct. I realized my mistake and already asked the mods to delete my post.
The main reason that many here who have difficulties with Palin, are not voicing a candidate yet, is because the alternative choices are not yet fully declared. That should change shortly now that Bachmann is getting ready to declare, as well as Pawlenty, etc.
There is still ample time to get this all sorted out because it is still considered early by election terms.
One thing for certain, we have no choice but to get this right this time. There will be no second chances. We need to pick a candidate who can win among ALL Americans, not just the 25% among the most Conservative Base.
There is a strong element of anti-semetism in the electorate - on both sides.
The US has always been the only acceptable mediator between Israel and her muslim enemies. The election of a Jewish POTUS would give the muslims every reason (in their view) to reject any US role in any Israel related issue. It would, in fact, give them a twisted but almost reasonable cause to cast the US as Zionist.
Can your dog read a teleprompter, and talk without whistling? Born in the US of US parents? (Is his mother an American bitch? Do you know who his father is? Does he happen to be “registered”?)
If so, your dog could easily be an improvement over the incumbent.
[Contempt directed at long time FReepers because you don’t like their views will not win any arguments around here.]
I’ve been here since 1998, I know how to win arguments as well as any, but that wasn’t my goal. You will notice that the two I’ve taken off on will not offer an alternative (as you did), they are just in the mudball slinging business. That’s what needs to go.
Apparently at CPAC he tried to set himself out as prolife
http://www.theinterim.com/soconvivium/donald-trump-declares-self-pro-life/
However, in his book, The America We Deserve, he specifically stated he was prochoice. Unlike Romney, he has no “conversion story” of which I am aware detailing his alleged transition. Just out of the blue, now Im prolife. Furthermore, what “prolife” translates to in terms of policy is not at all clear. Until I have better information, and I am open to such, I will have to view this as a recognition that the prolife voting block is essential to his aspirations, so he will say whatever he has to to bring them along for his ride. He will win some with this new claim, but he will have to do much better than uttering a mere two words on the subject at CPAC to win the prolife community at large.

She also, unnecessarily raised taxes on the Oil companies in the state, when they were already supporting over 75% of the state budget through the Permanent Fund, established by Gov. Jay Hammond in 1976. For over 2 decades, every Alaskan received an average check of $1,000.00 and paid no income taxes. About all her new tax accomplished was, it punished the Oil Companies who were already paying most of the Bills for the state. But more importantly, it stopped a great deal of new oil exploration and it decreased overall production and increased the loss of jobs. The states Budget surplus was the result of her excessive tax on the Oil companies but in the end, it hurt Alaskans in many ways.
Oil production has since increased again after the new Governor who replaced Palin, lifted the tax. The result was increased revenues for the state as well as new jobs.
Most of all, I have great difficulty seeing Palin as a true Conservative based on her actual political record. She has said and done many things that are not very Conservative in my opinion, but yet her following claims the very opposite. One thing for certain, I have closely researched Sarah Palin since 2008, even watched her perform at the Alaska State Fair in ‘84. And I am not convinced of a reason to support her as a Presidential candidate.
That still does not change my personal opinion of her as a person, I like her a lot. She is a great Mother, wife and she is a Christian. She would better serve our cause as a spokes person to rally support from the base.
