I think your right. I was reading on how they do bury them. They say that the radiation would eventually crack the cement that it becomes encased in. But that is like 100 years down the road.

But the option is to try to contain it and that is just not happening.

Would you say the same if Pilgrim Nuclear Generating Station would blow up ?

Lessee, the Pilgrim plant is about 120 miles from here... so I think I'd be OK!

There are places in sweden 800 miles away from chernobyl and it’s still not save to grow food there. So i doubt that a 120 miles distance would protect you. Not that you would drop dead, but the chances that you will suffer from cancer caused by long term radiation.

Radiation burns?

This isn't just “the amount of radiation from a chest X-ray” territory.

But, hey - Radiation Is Good For You!

800 miles? Holy carp. Pilgrim is graphite moderated?

When the tsunami hits Plymouth, you’re toast Fido. On the upside, when Pilgrim’s operating license expires next year, and the hysteria level can be maintained, you’re in the clear.

vapor is a hell of lot more compressible than solid ice,

lol.

Never dealt with high pressure, have you? That's from a half teaspoon of smokeless power.

Expanding gases can be unforgiving.

You have a point. However, that damage is caused by the shock-wave from a high-speed vaporization -- you produce the same amount of vapor over a period of a second, say, and the bullet doesn't even go any distance, never mind about damaging a nice revolver.
