Seven deer -- including six huddled in a circle -- were found apparently killed by lightning in a southern Wisconsin farm field, neighbors and authorities said Tuesday.
The deer were likely killed Sunday night, said neighbor Randy Lantz, 54.
Its bizarre, Lantz said.

“Ah, if lightning would just take out the herd of caribou at ANWR.....”
Can’t the natives hunt them freely? Let’s just put out a contract on em, I’m sure some friendly Inuit tribe would like a new community center or something :)
When conservatives make light of an incident like this “SONNY” they just contribute to towards a negative image of us.
You deal with it. I’ve killed more than my share of animals hunting and for other reasons and have no regrets over it. But I have more sense than to make light of an incident like this.
And my guess is I’m a lot older - and more mentally mature than you are by far.
Sonny, you guessed wrong--again.
But why break your perfect record?
Last I saw, you're the one throwing the hissy fit over a few jokes made about some dead Bambis.
I save my grief for dead human beings.
I think you are a mentally challenged person with a particularly sick mind. Hope you get the help you need some day.
“Last I saw, you’re the one throwing the hissy fit over a few jokes made about some dead Bambis.”
I don’t think the humor here is anything to be proud of.
“I save my grief for dead human beings.”
That is a red herring and has nothing to do with this.
I remember rifle teams in school basements, teachers and kids taking time off for opening day of deer season, coal furnaces and ice boxes cooled by real ice. I also remember hand pumps in kitchen sinks.
Still think you are older than me, Sonny?
Well, at least they brought their own antennas.
Hey Zu, just admit your ANGRY. It’s the first step on your way to recovery.
I was fascinated by these reports because I had never considered that "wild" animals get struck by lightening. (I always knew cattle get killed occasionally)
I must inform you that HUMANS also are killed by lightening.
Please notice I am not posting articles or pictures of those happenings.
If you find all this upsetting, LEAVE THE THREAD.
(And no more roast beast for you!!)
“Get a grip, man ( or lady). This is a completely natural event, completely divorced from the influence of Man.”
I didn’t say it was.
“I was fascinated by these reports because I had never considered that “wild” animals get struck by lightening.”
Why not?
“I must inform you that HUMANS also are killed by lightening. Please notice I am not posting articles or pictures of those happenings.”
Thank God for that!
“If you find all this upsetting, LEAVE THE THREAD. “
Is this by invitation only?
(And no more roast beast for you!!)
I rather like roast beast myself, but prefer mine a little less well-done and preferably done in by myself.
Bravo, ZULU. It's "humor in a jugular vein". You do remember that one, don't you, Sonny?
That is a red herring and has nothing to do with this.
Really? Then why are getting so worked up over some jokes about dead deer? Lighten up, Francis.(Sure you remember that one too)
I remember rifle teams in school basements, teachers and kids taking time off for opening day of deer season, coal furnaces and ice boxes cooled by real ice. I also remember hand pumps in kitchen sinks.
It's not my fault you grew up in a place that didn't have electricity or running water.I shoveled coal as a boy.I remember crystal radios. So what?
If you are older, than act in a manner that befits your age. Old farts who cannot take a joke give conservatives a bad name.

I don’t think pictures of a bunch of lightening-zapped animals are particularly funny, Sonny.
“It’s not my fault you grew up in a place that didn’t have electricity or running water.”
Too bad. You might have learned some important lessons on perspective, Sonny. And my guess is you have shoveled a lot more than coal in your lifetime.
“If you are older, than act in a manner that befits your age.”
I think all the immaturity here is not on my part.
“Old farts who cannot take a joke give conservatives a bad name.”
And I think a group of people who think pictures of a bunch of dead animals is funny give Free Republic a bad image.
Old farts who cannot take a joke give conservatives a bad name.
“The deer will remain on the field, where nature will take its course, Beth said”
Better than spending the...doe, to have them hauled off.
Don’t recast the proposition, ZULU.
You said you didn’t like the comments on this thread, not the pictures. And I never said the pictures were funny.
The immaturity is on your part—because you had to pass judgment on others based on what you think is prudent.
You want to be the arbiter of what is good for conservatives—then sign up to be a mod and have at it.
Wow! Here comes me to extend my condolences to the deerly departed, and what to my wondering eyes did appear but two old bucks fighting over ded deer. Sorta takes the whole somber ambiance right out of this thread ‘cause right now, all I can think of to say is, “Meow, meow, y’all.”
Grill it, baby....:))
Raw deer?
Wow...are you a Lycanthrope or something?...LOL
[and thanks but I ride it like I stole it]
;D
Did you read the article? Hunters didn’t kill the deer. Lightning did or maybe a higher power like God.
Just some frigggin deer, not people.
