Herd of deer killed by lightning

Seven deer -- including six huddled in a circle -- were found apparently killed by lightning in a southern Wisconsin farm field, neighbors and authorities said Tuesday.

The deer were likely killed Sunday night, said neighbor Randy Lantz, 54.

“It’s bizarre,” Lantz said.

Several years ago a group of illegals under a tree were hit by lightening near here. Some were killed, and some were injured. I have also seen it happen to cows and horses.

Reminds me of the story of several cars hitting deer on a curve in the road.

One of the new ‘city folk’ commented maybe they should move that “Deer Crossing” sign up the road to a straightaway.

When I was a kid, there were 4 cows killed the same way - lighting striking a tree they were around - in the field behind out house.
It was our field...but not our cows. We leased the field to a neighbor for his milk cows and some other animals.
After the storm had passed, I got out to them. They were still smokin'...smelled sorta like a bar-b-q gone bad.
The guy who owned them wasn't real happy about it.

Hey, there have even been legal actions over lightening killed deer.
