I hate Obumbi, I believe this war is a joke but let's have facts correct -- French opinion does count in the world. Not as much as they think it does, but it does. The Francophone world includes West Africa, Lebanon, Haiti, Guyana, France and Quebec (besides Puducherry and Mahe) and what France does is viewed with interest and has some (some...) impact on the rest of the world. Yes, their influence is down significantly -- may be 20% of what it was in the 50s and 60s, and dropping, but they are influential

Also, the French generally intervene in AFrica as much as they like, without bothering for UN rules or anything else.
