Veteran reporter Helen Thomas turned up in Playboy magazine this month (fully clothed, don’t worry) as part of her ongoing anti-Semitic publicity tour.
The former “dean” of the White House Press Corps sat down for an interview about her recent controversy.
“The Palestinian violence is to protect what little remains of Palestine. The suicide bombers act out of despair and desperation,” said Thomas, when asked about Palestinian terrorism against the Israelis.
The 90-year-old reporter also took a shot at Holocaust-remembrance programs, insisting that Jews exploited the memory in order to persecute Palestinians. “Do the Jews ever look at themselves? Why are they always right?”
And in case there’s anyone out there who’s still unsure about Thomas’ true feelings toward the Jewish people, she clarified them later in the interview. “[The Jews are] using their power, and they have power in every direction,” she said. “Power over the White House, power over Congress.”
But even as she shoots off textbook anti-Semitic canards, she vigorously denies that she’s anti-Jewish.
“I think they’re wonderful people,” she says of the Jews. “I’m not anti-Jewish; I’m anti-Zionist.”
Not everyone who calls himself an anti-Zionist is anti-Semitic. But there are many, many anti-Semites, like Thomas, who hide behind the façade of anti-Zionism. And the fact that she was able to do this while in the spotlight for so many years makes one worry for the state of the media.

Nine months after anti-Semitic remarks forced her to resign from her post as a White House correspondent, Helen Thomas remains unrepentant, demanding an apology from President Barack Obama and defending her assertion that Zionists own the White House and Congress.
Speaking at the annual spring convention of College Media Advisers in New York City on Tuesday, Thomas said, “I want an apology from the president,” Editor and Publisher reported Friday.

Dear Mz. Thomas. The Palestinians could have frozen all Israeli developments if they had only agreed to stop the violence and become a nation. Any time they like, they can solidify their borders, by simply agreeing to live peacefully with Israel, and become an official nation, recognized by the world’s community.
While I’m not exactly thrilled with all Israeli developments in the area, it occurs to me that as part of a peace deal, many of them could be removed.
Israel has shown a willingness to do so in the past. I view these settlements as somewhat of a bargaining chip. And for that reason, I’m not all that bothered by them.
Israel is not focused on destroying the Palestinians and pushing them into the sea. The Palestinians have been focused on doing that to any remaining Jews since prior to 1948.
Helen Thomas, you are a very vile individual. Your comments reveal that you think that family that was just wiped out, was something that a Jewish family in the area deserved. No hun, you don’t have to come out and say it. It oozes from your pores.
I remember that clip from John Carpenter’s 80’s flik Prince of Darkness. Alice Cooper has a cameo role as homeless bum turned zombie. Even a zombified Alice Cooper is easier on the eyes than Helen Thomas.
