That caption is BS. Note the waves breaking on the beach in the upper left corner. The Macundo well is under 5000 ft. of water, waaay offshore. No beach.
According to a knowledgeable source, the slick was sighted by a helicopter pilot on Friday and is about 100 miles long. A fishing boat captain said he went through the slick yesterday and it was strong enough to make his eyes burn.
Seems to be fairly large.
I wouldn’t trust the NRDC very far.
If that’s from a rig as claimed then why does there appear to be a beach in the upper left corner? That looks like it could be a tarmat near the beach.
Plus the picture doesn’t give very good perspective at all.
