This particular company has a record of falsifying safety inspection reports. "Saving face" trumps reality until reality bites you in the butt.
It it not just a matter of "a few people". Western agencies are saying that the company is still not forthcoming with the facts based on the data they have.
Right now, the possibility of burying the reactors as they did in Chernobyl is being discussed. If the happens, a significant land area of Japan will be unihabitable for decades and the death toll will be as higher.
I feel for the families uncovering the thousands of bodies of the dead.
The media just can't get enough of the nuke plants. It's as if the 20,000 are yesterday's news and simply forgotten.

The radiation leak was man made and avoidable. What’s a human life worth ?
Just consider how high the MSM and Democrat politician unemployment rates would be if Americans had any ability at all to judge relative risk.
Radiation can take years to kill though. Yesterday when I saw snow falling in Japan I thought of all those who had been without food and water for many days.
My first thought was that they would have water from the snow and then the thought struck me that perhaps that snow was contaminated by falling through the radiation in the atmosphere! The thought that they could be harmed even more!
Maybe it doesn’t work that way, don’t know!
