US military kicks off massive relief effort in Japan
Lalit K Jha
Washington, Mar 17 (PTI) The US military has launched a massive relief effort in the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan by deploying some 17,000 personnel and 15 ships off the coast of Japan.
Pentagon spokesman, Col Dave Lapan, in an off camera press briefing, told reporters that 14 naval ships along with their aircrafts and helicopters are already off the coast of Japan carrying out relief and rescue operation for the thousands of people affected by the devastating earthquake and the subsequent tsunami that struck Japan last week.
One more ship is scheduled to reach Japan by today, thus taking the total to 15.
Good time for our enemy to attack elsewhere
Nobody tell Barry there aren’t any Muslims enduring hardship in Japan.
America will always help our allies, especially Japan. You won’t hear about our evvvilll military aid efforts from the lib media though.
No more free ANYTHING!
Great. But is it “paid for”?
I was happy to read this, given the Zero in charge.
God bless and keep them safe.
Thanks TigerLikesRooster.
If there’s one thing that honest people remember for the rest of their days, it’s when selfless heroes rush into harm’s way when their need is dire.
Apparently our military has been putting themselves in some pretty risky situations in/near/around the plants already according to Newt on Hannity earlier tonight. He wouldn’t go into specifics though.
It’s important for people to remember the Japanese are honorable people and will remember the kindness shown to them long into the future. There will be a time in the future when we may need their help. They are excellent allies and worth our charity no matter the cost.
It’s only been 7 days.
>> Great. But is it paid for?
Our largest debt holder next to China, I believe.
The media might have just taken notice, but the military has been there the whole time.
The Japanese are one of the few host countries that pay for the expenses of the U.S. Forces in their country. They pay the COLA, housing costs, utility costs, and fuel costs for U.S. aircraft in country. The U.S. pays for the equipment, pay, and operational costs when deployed away from Japan. I don’t know what the U.S. pays for depot and shipboard maintenance, but the Japanese do a really good job, especially their aircraft depot maintenance.
I believe it. In the epoch sense, this is not the time for demanding down payments.
My daughter spent a couple of years living in Japan. She was impressed by the older men she met who spoke of GI’s getting them milk and treats when they were kids, right after WWII, when (unlike today) Japan was not only not our ally, but was a defeated enemy. Those men grew up loving Americans.
I've been thinking along similar lines. That North Korea may hit South Korea, or China moves on Taiwan. The Middle East is just nuts. If bad luck strikes us with a disaster like a quake in the US, we're going to be too distracted to react to our enemies elsewhere. Of course, Obama will keep his golfing dates.
OMGosh! Does zer0 know that we’re helping an ally?
Let’s hope no one tells him.
