PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Senate has defeated bills intended to force a Supreme Court ruling against automatic citizenship for U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants.
The bills were defeated on votes of 12-18 and 11-19 as majority Republicans split on the issue.

I suspect that under pressure from DC threatening to withhold Federal funds for something these candy A$$e$ folded. Just MHO!
Stinking cowards.
Rino hunting up next season.
I’m not surprised this came from the state that just re-elected McLame last year. If they can’t get rid of McLame after all the damage he has done to conservatism, I wouldn’t expect much from them. The immigration law was a nice little gesture but I would not expect AZ to get a serious set to implement freedom and do what is right. Compared to my communist state of California, Arizona is Goldwater country.
Either they've got one foot in the democrat commie/marxist camp or they're getting "donations" from pro-amnesty activist groups. In either event, they're not conservative and they are helping to kill American jobs for unemployed Americans by virtue of their weaselly pro-illegal alien voting.
So y’all think that you gonna get rid of Big Ears next election. Read my lips....Not until there is an all out physical revolutionâ that’s bloodshed in Rio Linda â will there ever be any symilance of what this nation used to be. This CONgress is totally bought & paid for & it trickles down to the states, counties & cities. They defy your request at every turn & you vote them back. If you don’t the other slob that the party has shoved down you is in line for the continence..
Could it be that the GOP does not want to rock the boat and rather sees 4 more years of Obama?
One way or another we will rid ourselves of this cancer killing the nation.
Please, all. The AZ senate has not gone squishy. In fact by voting down these bills they are likely demonstrating how very conservative they are.
To start with, they have been pushing so hard, for so long, that legally sloppy, unenforceable, unconstitutional, and just plain badly written laws are being voted on.
So what happened, here? To start with, Arizona was trying to create a Supreme Court case to challenge the “naturalization” clause of the 14th Amendment. But even the Republican State Attorney General said that, as written, it wouldn’t fly with the SCOTUS, because of several serious errors in it.
Bottom line: try again, but get some expert advice on writing the thing.
As far as the other rejected laws go, the biggest objection was in making non-law enforcement people check immigration status, but without their having any means to do so. This has been a problem all over the US, with laws designed to crack down on illegals.
All e-Verify can do is to check if the documents themselves are legal, not if the person using them is legal. But if you want a law like this, you have to make some punishment for not doing it. And that means arresting people who *thought* documents looked genuine, but who had no way to tell for sure.
Excellent comments #11. Thank you.
I know gun owners who voted for the Brown Clown.
