I’ve been looking for a box of trisodium phosphate to add to the dish detergent but the even the stores now sell “substitute TSP.”

You can still get the real stuff (with phosphates) online. It is used by commercial outfits.

I buy TSP in the paint department at Home Depot. Add a tablespoon in your dishwasher and 2 in the clothes washer and things actually get clean.

So far I haven’t noticed a problem w/the new dish detergent in our dishwasher, except, if we make eggs and use a plastic spatula, the dishwasher won’t clean the egg off.
We must have either a good dishwasher, or our dishes just aren’t that dirty...

You can still buy dishwasher detergent with phosphates because it is still legal for the restaurant sector. I buy mine
HERE. If you live in a state that has laws against phosphates, you may have to have it shipped to a relative or some other creative method.
Our state has no laws against phosphates, but my Sam's Club started selling Cascade without phosphates anyway.
After just a couple of weeks, my dishes, pots and flatware started gleaming. You don't realize just how filmy your stuff gets without adequate cleaning. I have a several year supply stashed away in a closet!

I bought a four pound box of real TSP at Home Depot about three weeks ago.

I found the real thing at Home Depot in the paint aisle. About $4.00 for a large box! I give it a little shake right before I use Cascade gel. Voila! Clean dishes once again!
