A United Nations forecast of the possible movement of the radioactive plume coming from crippled Japanese reactors shows it churning across the Pacific, and touching the Aleutian Islands on Thursday before hitting Southern California late Friday.

Can someone ask William if “churning” is the correct scientific term?

I don’t know if churning is the right term, but I do think the more it churns over the 6000 miles from Japan, the more radiation gets dispersed, ie weakened.

Rain over the Pacific would be best.

More fearmongering? The headline gives the impression that the release of a vast quantity of radioactive material is imminent. But that’s not what the article says at all. And I love the way this crucial little gem is hidden towards the end:

“In Germany on Wednesday, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection held a news conference that described the threat from the Japanese plume as trifling and said there was no need for people to take iodine tablets.”

I would not book any vacation at a southern California theme park in the near future.

And I will check where my veggies are coming from for the next couple of months.

More fearmongering

I know! It's endless and ment to be so IMO. If media doesn't have a story they design one from the smallest of happenings....the public gets fed it then it's on from there....one hand feeds the other and the truth gets lost.

We should all be checking our food just because of the chmicals used to fertilize them....does more harm than what that “plume” is being pushed as holding...

Rain over the Pacific would be best.

It is predicted to rain in northern cal for a week or more. So I guess all of the nice little particles get into everything. My question is what about all the boats out at sea, birds, fish that are affected by the radiation. Does this mean that our future canned tuna fish and fresh salmon have a slight glow?

Didn’t we have multiple atomic bomb tests in the 50’s and 60’s? Chernobyl? What was the net effect? Can any of these media fearmongers put some perpective on this?

Or is it because they can’t find a way to blame Bush.

Yes you are correct, we should examine every can, bag and carton, we need web blogs with followers that will establish our identity on the internet as social leaders! Save the people! And I propose the headquarters will purely green built, even the water used in the fire suppression will be recycled! I can already feel a heady rush of waiting lost people seeking internet solace....

The un that brought us globull warming... the largest scam ever visited upon the human race? They can't predict rain! The un is nothing but a pit of anti American vipers... serpents of all shapes and sizes. The only expertise that they hold is the art of stealing and lying.

On 3/18

Note the scale!

A forecast by the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization shows how weather patterns this week might disperse radiation from a continuous source in Fukushima, Japan. The forecast does not show actual levels of radiation, but it does allow the organization to estimate when different monitoring stations, marked with small dots, might be able to detect extremely low levels of radiation. Health and nuclear experts emphasize that any plume will be diluted as it travels and, at worst, would have extremely minor health consequences in the United States.

Your flight to California would give you more radiation exposure by far than any radiation from Japan. And my veggies will come from the same place they always came from - the ground.

Russia and China might want to start supplying lots of concrete, so that the Japanese can start shooting gunite into those reactors and bury them. The winds will shift and that plume will be heading west one day.

So the cloud they show first left Japan on the 12 th. There was very little radiation discharged the first two days in Japan. So the radiation possibly arriving in So Cal Friday night must be from the first day. Saturday night from the second day. Very low levels. Right ?

Ha! Arbitrary Units! What a hoot!

Since our nuclear accelerators nano second by nano second can record individual events, I guess the range could be infinite.

Maybe we should be checking for neutrino captures as well!
