West speaks to a crowd of about 400 at Tuesday night's town hall meeting in Jupiter.
JUPITER — Toward the end of a 90-minute audience Q&A session at Tuesday night’s town hall meeting, U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, was asked by former Indian Trail Improvement District board member Christopher Karch whether President Obama is “legally there or not.” “Who is going to tell us who this man is? Is he legally there or not?” said Karch. “What are we going to do to ensure that, if he isn’t legally there, it doesn’t happen again?”
Said West: “I will tell you this: That is the dog chasing its tail. The most important thing is, it’s the policies. That’s what we have to be standing on.”
The crowd of about 400 applauded, but Karch wasn’t satisfied.
“But if he’s not, it’s treason,” Karch said.
Said West: “You will waste more time worrying yourself to death about that instead of making sure that you expand the majority in the House of Representatives, you win back the U.S. Senate so that you can stand against the policies that are emanating out of the White House…
“What is your objective? Your objective is getting back to a constitutional republic principles and values. If you spend your time worrying about someone’s citizenship, you will never get to that objective.”
West didn’t offer his own opinion on Obama’s citizenship during the public forum. So PostOnPolitics asked him after the meeting.
“He is a citizen. He’s the president. I mean, that’s all I know. I am concerned about his policies,” West said.

Wests point is the birth certificate issue is a distraction, and focusing on 0bamas policies will bear more fruit. God save us from politicians who think doing their constitutional duty is a distraction, or that you have to forsake one part of your duty in order to supposedly carry out another part of it.

Theyd get a lot further focusing on their constitutional responsibilities than focusing on Obamas policies. So the fact West doesn't fall into the "Show the BC" category makes him a useful idiot for Obama?

West believes enough evidence shows 0bama is a citizen. What would you like him to do at this point? And I don't think West's commitment to the U.S. Constitution is questionable, either.

I am perfectly OK with putting Certifigate on the back burner, so long as at least a few states refuse to put Obama on the 2012 ballot unless he provides a long form birth certificate, and not just a COLB.
I have read about the failure of birther bills in state after state. Have any states actually passed such legislation?

Representative West fails to understand we will not return to Constitutional principles if BO/BS is allowed to violate the natural born citizenship requirement in Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution. A very disappointing statement by West.

In 1 year, 7 months, and 22 days, we elect a new president. What have we accomplished? Apparently we've shown we're quite adept at IDing RINOs who won't make the birth certificate of Obama their Numero Uno issue. Beyond that... not much.

Electability shouldn’t be the first question. Obama is “electable.”
The first question for conservatives should be whether or not they will keep their oath to defend the Constitution, come hell or high water.

Have any states actually passed such legislation? No. It's being blocked everywhere by Republican "leaders."

West is being pushed on this issue by WHOM? Twice now. He already gave the answer in response to a prior question. We know what he thinks. NOW, he knows he has to be careful. They know that West has garnered considerable admiration from conservatives. Let’s be careful of a gotcha by these sneaky pestulent commies. They WANT you to lose faith in ALL of our conservatives who may wind up as candidates. They also WANT you to think that Sarah Palin can’t win! Do you buy it?

I don’t care if she can win or not, since she’s wrong on a number of fundamental non-negotiable conservative principles.

Actually sir your statement is factually incorrect. It has been proven that Obama is NOT a natural born citizen. This is due to the FACT his dad was not a citizen, which BTW is a requirement.
Could you point us to where that is written in the Constitution? No? How about in a decision of the Supreme Court? No? How about in the US Code of Laws, the law of the land? No?
Has the current Supreme Court ruled Obama to be ineligible due to his parentage in any of the 13 Obama eligibility appeals that have reached the High Court? Berg v Obama? Beverly v FEC? Craig v US? Donofrio v Wells? Herbert v Obama? Hollister v Soetoro I? Hollister v Soetoro II? Kerchner v Obama? Lightfoot v Bowen? Rhodes v MacDonald? Schneller v Cortes? Taitz v Obama? Wrotnowski v Bysiewicz?
“Based on the language of Article II, Section I, Clause 4 and the guidance provided by Wong Kim Ark, we conclude that persons born within the borders of the United States are “Natural Born Citizens” for Article II, Section 1 purposes regardless of the citizenship of their parents.”—Indiana Court of Appeals, Ankeny et. al. v The Governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels, November 12, 2009.

Just doing my citizen duty, which involves before anything else a simple demand that every officer of government, in every branch, and at every level, keep their oath of office. IOW, you complain a lot, and b!tch about the "impure" conservatism of others, but offer nothing tangible or constructive or realistic in terms of winning offices away from Democrats in 2012...?
