A rise in taxes raised the temperature of many Miami-Dade County voters.
Tuesday they got a chance to express their anger in historical proportions, ousting Mayor Carlos Alvarez and Commissioner Natacha Seijas from office in the first successful recall vote in the county's history.

Norman Braman, former owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, is the patriot who spear-headed this drive. Interesting...

Up your way you have that whole township thing going on that kind of supersedes counties.

Alvarez officially leaves office on Friday. It will then be up to the County Commission whether to appoint a new Mayor or hold a special election (I previously thought there would be an election, but the current term expires next year). Technically, unless someone is chosen on Friday, they will be sans Mayor until the aforementioned actions above occur.

I have always held your view.
But I’m starting to believe that the tide has turned.
