West or no West, that part of the state is in serious need of redistricting. To call it gerrymandered is an understatement. More like a bowl of spaghetti.
Rick Scott is procrastinating about it. He made “clean” congressional districts a campaign promise and now he is acting like a standard-issue politician about it.
Have the census data been published? If not, it's a bit early to know how many districts FL has - and thus, it's too early to come out with new district lines.

That’s very true about the census.

I’m talking about campaign promises. In January, some legislators tried to pin Scott down about his redistricting intentions and he backed off.

He has been unexpectedly good in a number of areas. I hope that when the time comes he regains his zeal for ending gerrymandering.

Florida gained two Congressional Districts...up from 25 to 27. We just do not know yet how the two new Districts will be drawn out. If any Florida Freepers read this and have heard anything, please let us know! We must do everything we can to keep DEMS from taking those two new Districts!
