Confidence in the U.S. system of government has dropped to a new low in more than 35 years, with public attitudes burdened by continued economic discontent, soaring gasoline prices, record opposition to the war in Afghanistan -- and a letdown in hopes for political progress after a bout of bipartisanship last fall.

Almost as many, 23 percent, are pessimistic, the closest these measures ever have come. The rest, a record high, are "uncertain" about the system.

Remember what that mentally ill moonbat Pelosi promised after the libs took over the House?
“We pledge to make this the most honest, ethical, and open Congress in history.....”
Well San Fran Nan, like everything else you have ever attempted in your life, you failed miserably.
Courtesy of Progre$$ives in both parties and way too many courts...
Can you ay Jimmy Carter....? More than one similarity! 35 years ago I was 15 yo so didn’t notice the prices so much but a few years later I sure did.
As city, state and the federal government have to cease transfer payments for silly things (because we’re basically out of money), a lot more people will become dissatisfied with “the government.” They expect their sugar daddy to never run out of money.
Ah, The System is at fault
Sheeeeit, whut you be talkin’ bout, bro? I be givin’ mahseff a solid B+, jus’ ask Oprah, we be tight! Fo’ shizzle, fo’ rizzle!
Well, it is an ABC/Wapo poll which surveys "adults" so it was bound to be friendly to Obama. Still, you are right, there is really nothing good in this poll. It shows Obama more trusted than Republicans, show the public would blame the GOP for a shutdown, shows the public thinks the GOP won't compromise enough, etc, etc.
While I suspect this poll is skewed to the left like most ABC/Wapo polls, it is still a pretty good sign the American public has not matured at all on the issue of budget cuts and still like Obama despite his utter failure on virtually every issue as President.
Ask Americans if they support budget cuts and they do in the abstract, ask them about cutting specific programs and they generally oppose cutting virtually anything (except maybe foreign aid, prisons and perhaps defense).
Yo check it!
Oh wait...
I think the poll is garbage and badly skewed to the Left. Today's Rasmussen poll has Obama's approval ratings at new two year lows.
I would say that our system of government is not the problem.
It’s the ABUSE of our system of government.
The founding fathers were aware that a democratic republic could be just as tyrannical as a monarchy with the wrong people running it.
That’s what we have today, and that includes both dems and repubs.
Pffft...Obama already makes Carter look like a piker...
You knows dass right, blood!!!
The media spin will be a lack of confidence due to the results of the November elections.
and Obama accomplished it without burglars...
Well if you look at what that anarchistic, anti-government troublemaker Thomas Jefferson said about governments which no longer represent “We the People”, but their own self interests, we need to ABOLISH this corrupt, evil government and start the hell OVER! Back to 1788 when our Constitution was ratified.
I still have confidence in the U.S. System of Government. In fact, I think we should try it.
LOL, the absolute WORST and most inaccurate method of polling. Just look at the RCP polling to see the wide disparity between the polling of Adults versus likely voters.
Also in a similar poll taken in Oct of 2010 they had this to say which shows it is NOT the system at all.
3. (IF PESSIMISTIC OR UNCERTAIN) Which of these do you think is the main problem the (system of government itself), or the (people in government who are running it)?
