One of the top conservatives in the House is opposing a measure to keep the government running for three more weeks while the White House and Republican lawmakers seek a longer-term agreement on spending cuts.
Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio chairs a group of conservative lawmakers . . .

The latest stopgap spending bill includes funding for Planned Parenthood and directly pays for abortions in D.C.
This alone should be enough to block this bill. Neither of those recipients are “urgent needs”, regardless of one’s views on abortion.
The GOP needs to signal that it plans to vote “No” on increasing the debt ceilling unless the Dims agree to at least the original $100 billion in cuts the GOP outlined. They wont’ but the should.
“The latest stopgap spending bill includes funding for Planned Parenthood and directly pays for abortions in D.C.”
It also allows more funding for Obamacare. What is it about national bankruptcy that the Republican “leadership” does not understand? We are literally on the precipice of an economic meltdown and stopgap funding bills are being authorized to kick the can down the road.
This one would allow a final round of negotiations.
STOP THE JOHN BOEHNER/ BARACK OBAMA DEATH TO AMERICA HEALTHCARE BILL!
GET THE $105,500,000,000 BACK !!!!
Send the Republican “Leadership” to Japan. Especially the Three Amigos ...I mean Young Guns.
Does it cover whimpering attacks? Bonehead seems to suffer from this malady.
“This one would allow a final round of negotiations.”
It is unlikely that one more round will change a thing. Dems are just stalling; they’ve already negotiated the “cut” down to $61 billion, a miniscule and meaningless reduction to what is a truely horrific budget problem. Republicans need to draw a line in the sand, but I won’t hold my breath.
“I’d consider doing ONE more CR, but flatly stating NO MORE.”
Politicians have been saying that since the beginning of time.
Only a fool would fall for it again
The problem is, they didn't say that last time, and you really shouldn't blindside people.
Kick the ball charlie brown, I promise I will not move it this time. Sure!!!!!
“you really shouldn’t blindside people”
I agree with you as a general principle however, considering what the Dems did to us in the lame duck session, a payback is in order. Just like in boxing, if you get aggressively hit below the belt, you respond with a low blow (or late hit) yourself. Dems have not played fair and they need to learn to respect the opposition otherwise they’ll just keep bullying us.
I hear ya about payback, but sometimes I really do wonder if God gives an advantage to those who don't engage in the most base behavior -- even in return.
Well, it depends on what the meaning of "this" is.
Sometimes its hard to turn the other cheek. :)
Regards.
The rats controlled the entire government last year and purposely did not pass a budget. It was a twofer. They denied a target for conservative opponents. Leadership also knew the Obamacare funding would likely continue in any CR absent a budget. It was brilliant in a Machiavellian sense. The people were sure to kick out the rats, but the new House would face serious problems repealing or even defunding the crown jewel of tyrants, National Socialist Healthcare.
Oh, as for funding without specific appropriations, think Social Security and Congressional pay raises. Both are on autopilot like Obamacare.
While Abortion is not the issue I would pick to say this gets defunded or else the government shuts down (I would prefer CPB). The GOP needs to pick one program and eliminate it in the CR, and go one program per 2 week CR. If the issue chosen is abortion so be it. But what ever program is chosen it must be a leftist supporting program and your talking point is that we voted to fund the government, but the Dems voted to shut down the gov. instead of cutting X.
Repubs also need to understand that if the program they chose survives on any level of government support they have failed. By going this route they have gone to zero sum (if dems win they lose).
