President Obama, "heartbroken" by the unfolding tragedy in Japan, reiterated Monday that the United States stood ready to support its ally in the aftermath of Fridays devastating earthquake and tsunami.
"The United States will continue to offer any assistance we can as Japan continues to recover from multiple disasters," Obama said.
His remarks came at a Virginia middle school, the latest event in what the White House has called "Education Month." The president used Mondays event to call on Congress to reauthorize "No Child Left Behind" before the start of the next school year.
"I want every child in the country to head back to school in the fall knowing that their education is Americas priority," he said. "Lets seize this education moment."
At Kenmore Middle School in suburban Washington, Obama said that in the new global economy America needed not only to make sure no child was left behind but also to ensure that they got ahead.
Both parties widely agree that the 2002 law needs an overhaul. The nature of the changes, however, are the subject of considerable debate.

Obama is bolstered by the ripple effects, like energy restrictions, economic problems, commodity shortages that will hit the USA because of all this.

What did you do Saturday? I guess I should feel bad as I did not stop my life due to Japan. I mean come on. We are getting worse than the blame Bush group who did this for eight years. I mean what the heck do you want him to do. I wonder if the Japanese Prime Minister stopped his life when New Orleans had their hurricane. It is bad enough that Obama is spending our money sending the carrier Ronald Reagan over to Japan which we cannot afford.

Obama golfs when he’s “heartbroken”.

I had no idea that President Obama was Prime Minister of Japan. You guys are ridiculous.

Didn't Zer0 say that he was "standing by" the Iranian protesters and the Lybian protesters???
If he "stands by" the Japanese in the same way...
...they are toast...
When president Zer0 says he is "standing by" someone, maybe that someone should take it as a threat?
